never saw election... to be honest, i didn't even know that both were directed by the same person.  it's fucking mind boggling.
It was Man of the Year. Election is one of the best 90's films ever. Fantastic movie. Reese Witherspoon & Matthew Broderick
IT WAS A MISTAKE :'(

i was thinking "election movie" because well i didn't know the name, only the stupid fucking grin he has in the fucking poster

i've never seen election all the way through and i've never been sober on the parts that i've seen.

"good" and "robin williams" do not belong in the same sentence.  Unless that sentence is "robin williams was totally not good in that really bad movie."

good will hunting!

Alien Vs. Predator, Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, and the execrable Event Horizon say you are wrong!   :lol Welcome back, btw.  You have been missed.

Jim Carrey was in Eternal Sunshine, and his performance was good.

He was also in the Truman Show. WHY DON'T PEOPLE USE HIM LIKE THEY DID IN THESE FILMS?

None of this "number 23" bullshit or give away comedies like Bruce sucks a fucking dick Almighty?

eh.  eternal sunshine could've been done by other actors.  I hated the truman Show (though i did appreciate the concept).

True on Eternal Sunshine.  Both the leads were definitely not optimum for the movie.  All things considered, they did well, but Carrey especially was kind of not thoroughly convincing.

I do like the movie, mind you.

I like Kate Winslet's character (it's so rare to see a not "perfect" woman in this sort of thing), but her portrayal often veers into the annoying.  Maybe that is realistic and it's supposed to be an aspect of her character, but it kind of makes the movie not very pleasant to watch.

I think that's the point.

I cringe on certain parts of the movie that emphasize her character's flaws.  But it makes me appreciate the movie even more.

it skips too much of the how we got here stuff to really make either of the characters compelling.  Both actors do hold their own with what they are given, but I'm of the mind that you could swap out any number of actors in their roles and end up at the same place.
I agree.

there's no real meat to their relationship because you never actually get to see it develop, so you're kind of just thrown in there at the beginning and you're expected to care for the main characters.

However, I still love it.  It's probably my favorite movie.

ewww Robin Williams.  Throw him in the shit/bin along with Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, and anybody else who "improvises."

Hey now, there are good improvisers out there.  David Cross in particular, but a lot of the cast of AD improvised stuff.
