The Godfather 360.

Is better than Crackdown. It doesn't look half as good nor play half as well, but at least there's something to do. I like the chance to earn my way into the family, mission and objective based gameplay is my bread and butter. The vehicles are sort of boring, but the shooting is fun and I'm modestly familar with the real neighborhoods it's based on, so that's cute, too.

Did anyone else play it?

I'll bite the bullet:  I didn't think it was a particularly bad game at all.  I Have to catch a bus, but I will say more later.

Crackdown is a great game. But there's nothing to it. You can race or you can go after generic "bosses". All the weapons feel the same, it's pretty blah. Godfather doesn't look half as good, nor play half as well, but it's just more interesting. I have more fun playing it.

That said, it is getting a little old. I like that the gun play is consequential; That is, it doesn't take much to kill or be killed. However, sometimes the game throws too many enemies at you and it just feels like luck to get through a segment. If you're going to play it "real" with the damage, play it "real" with the population. And what's the deal with the RPG skill-leveing system? Some of those skills are useless. (Hmm, 1000 extra HP or a chance to carry another incredibly rare Molotov Cocktail?)

The progression from thug to associate is nice, as are the kinds of tasks you're asked to take on. The "Family" system is pretty close to Crackdown's gang system. I wish there were a few more cars and some cleaner textures, there's some irony to the fact that it feels like you're running around a movie set some of the time.

It wasn't horrible.

Actually this thread is correct from my memories of both games.
