bought a fuckload of games. here are some bite-size synopses for your short-ass attention spans. i have spent between 40 minutes to an hour with each of these titles except disgaea, which i have spent roughly ten hours with because it is better than the judeo-christian god.
vf 5 online (X360) -- easily the best version. visually better than the ps3 version, online is better than doa4 (although still not great, because fighting games really shouldn't be played online until we're all on fios), and the load times are about 1.5x that of the ps3 version, since there's no "install to hd" option. also it is version c, it is the best fighting game since vf4evo, and if you even pretend to like fighting games you should buy it now now now.
naruto: rise of a ninja (X360) -- fuck YOU. i bought this because the cel-shading and environments look like naughty naughty animu buttsex. so far, it mixes a shockingly well-animated 60 fps fighting engine with some novel and well-executed controls, a very large explorable environment, and a LOT of item collection. so far, the item collection bits are reasonably fun and very, er, rare-esque in the way that rare-esque collecting shit can be good for the first five hours of it, but we'll see if that holds out, because at the five hour mark collecting shit becomes maddenly repetitive and prone to inducing fits of existential anxiety. the animu bits are wholly palatable, and the pacing is good. it's fuckin' pretty!
disgaea (psp) -- best handheld game OF EVER. jesus christ it is better than the entire ds library combined. it is the ultimate portable experience. i can grind whenever, wherever i want and get STATS and LOOT and LEVELS.
guitar hero 3 (X360) -- eh. the characters are UGLY, but the song lineup is good. i suck at these games and am a casual, so i am ill-suited to judge the larger issue of quality, but it's fun, albeit very much more of the same. it has a heart cover that surprisingly doesn't suck; on the other hand, it has an awful kiss cover. what to do!
