Since I work for the public school system, I get Veteran's Day off, but my wife doesn't. None of our friends have it off, either. Am I the only non-student with tomorrow off?

I'm just gonna sit at home and finish up Ratchet and Clank Future and then start tackling Call of Duty 4, all the while praying that the wind storm doesn't lead to our huge tree falling on our house.

Probably gonna head over to Kick's and buy some random shit I don't need, too.

however most local businesses took TODAY off as well as tomorrow off in some sort of solidarity with veterans. BULLSHIT!

I'm a student and I work in fast food. I have school tomorrow and my work is open. I'm off, but that's just because I don't typically work Mondays.

I forgot it was Veteran's Day tomorrow until someone called me at work today. Funny story:

I answer my phone with my whole "hello and thank you for calling the Subway in rockbottomshit, this is Nikki speaking, how may I help you?" The person on the other line, who sounded remarkably like my coworker Linda, was like "Hey Nikki, are you working tomorrow? It's Veteran's Day." So I'm thinking it's my coworker since she said exactly that, and I figured she wanted to see if I'd work for her or something, so I'm like "Oh no hon I'm not working, but I have school so I can't come in."

So then mystery person says "Well are you guys open?"

Bingo, haha. I laughed and I'm like "oh I'm sorry, yeah we're open, 9am to 10pm."

Seriously though, when they said what they said after my greeting, I really didn't think they were some random customer. I mean, woudl you have? I felt like an idiot lol.

I never had Veteran's Day off in graduate school (state university). Always thought that was odd.

My calender at work has little black squares in the corners when the USPS is closed and little black circles when we're closed. Or so the legend tells me. I'm always a little annoyed on days when the little square having fun without his diligent little circle buddy. Although seeing the little circle all by himself on black friday makes me happy.
