How are they a "huge, important" NBA franchise? Because they're based in New York? Just because they're in New York, doesn't mean we need to sit through endless coverage of their mediocrity. And to say that Los Angeles doesn't have the media that New York has is just speaking out of your not-black ass again. The only difference between the Lakers and the Knicks is that the Knicks are a cultural institution for New Yorkers and the Lakers have actually won meaningful games in the past ten years.
Um, because they are one of the biggest and most important franchises in NBA history, despite the current situation. Same with Boston although of course, "they're back" (don't believe the hype!). What else is the media empire that is New York city going to talk about, outside of the meh Giants - now that the Yankees stories are kind of slowing down? And that may be an understatement because the Yankees are still getting a lot of off season press due to the A-God talk. Bottom line, NY covers the shit out of everything, no matter how shitty it is
NY media is a beast of its own. LA hasn't had much to talk about lately, unless we count the various Kobe soap operas (Kobe kicking Shaq to the curb, Kobe raping white women, Kobe bitching because he can't win games with "his" team, Kobe being Kobe, etc). I'd rather hear about the alleged dirt Starbury has on Zeke
