Quote
Common ("Finding Forever"), Jay-Z ("Kingdom Come"), Nas ("Hip Hop Is Dead"), T.I. ("T.I. vs. T.I.P") and West all earned nominations for best rap album.

Wow. I can understand Common and Kanye, but fucking KINGDOM COME?

Looks like Amy Winehouse might win the Kiss of Death grammy: Best New Artist.  Here's hoping.

This is hilarious.  They must have really thought this year was total shit for rock if two of the five songs nominated for rock band performances were from that godawful set of Lennon covers.

I might still watch this just to see if Winehouse shows up loaded -- a pretty safe bet there that she will.  And you know she's gonna win at least one of these.  Oh, that will be fun.

The Grammys will probably give Kanye aoty due to his dead mom. I love Kanye but c'mon, Graduation is not even the best rap album of the year

MF DOOM needs to go mainstream for 1 year so he can win like 20 Grammys and a Oscar.

How could a smelly black man in a mask ever go mainstream? smh

Granted he's lost a lot of weight but...nah. Just give me a new solo album, Doom Sparks, and Madvillain II and I'll be set through 2008. :bow

The fact that Madvillain's first album got no Grammy/awards buzz is a testament to how fake the entire thing is. If you don't sell a million records you don't get nominated. This isn't the fucking MTV awards assholes

She makes good music. There's so much "retro" stuff out there, but Amy manages to put an interesting spin on some of my favorite jazzy/R&B artists like Billie Holiday

I'm torn, that Cash song is amaaaaaaaaazing but my wife knows the lead singer/piano/synth player of Mute Math and I think they have an awesome unique sound, and their video prob pwns the Cash one but the Cash song is superior.  Guess it depends on how they're judging that category.

Where do you see Arcade Fire?

Other than Winehouse, I like a handful of the nominations.  Feist, LCD Soundsystem.  I also dig that Beck song that was nominated -- would have been a nice addition to The Information, but was instead released as a stand-alone single.
