Should I be an election officer?
« on: December 06, 2007, 08:49:48 PM »
For those that don't know, an election officer is the person who sits in a driveway and supervises the voting crap.  They just make sure the old people don't do anything wrong and they can also recount the votes and stuff like that.

I think my county or city fucked up because they sent me a letter saying "Dear Election Officer:" and asking me to participate as one for the presidential primaries elections, primary elections, and the general presidential election.  I just registered to vote like 5 months ago so obviously I've never been an election officer.

I figure it's a good idea because you can put it on a college application and it looks like you care a lot about the community or whatever.  Plus, you apparently get paid for it.  If I do every position that is open, I can get about $370 for about 3-4 days of full time work.  Plus there's 3 elections I can do it for.  Sounds good to me.  Also, I get a $10 finder's fee for every person I refer so come to me if you want to make $4.

I was referring to my coworkers.  There were in fact some black people attempting to vote as well.  We went through the motions of accepting their ballots; I'm sure they were all thrown out at some point later in the process.
