where I will listen to Chopin piped to me from my media PC, victim, while I read this biography of Fritz Lang.  If you need me to come and do anything classy, just remember that I am never more than a few button presses on my j-lo cell phone away from being wired once again.

Most of that's on external drives, so I can't really install applications on it.

E-sata drives are fast enough for applications.  I got one during Thanksgiving.

I have at least one of those.  I should probably install the e-sata PC card.

You should.  E-sata is so much faster than Firewire or USB.  The only drawback compared to an internal drive is that the seek times are a bit slower.  You can also get a SATA to ESATA convertor if your motherboard doesn't have enough PCI slots.

I think the reason I have been putting it off, and the root at some of my other main PC HDD dilemmas, is that I sort of want to wipe Mac OS off the machine totally.  I dunno.  It's tough.  I basically only use Vista for games and torrenting (OSX lacks a decent torrent application) and networking shit in general, and by association (since I am in Windows so much of the time), I do a lot of my writing there.

I dunno. . .I have to make a decision soon, I guess.

Why do you want to wipe it though?  OSX doesn't take up that much space, does it?

I like Vista Ultimate X64 for almost everything.  VistaX64 lets me use all 4gb of my ram.  However, Vista is still kinda shoddy for gaming so I keep my XP partition alive.

Good point.  I wouldn't wipe it, but I would keep it minimal.  At the same time, why the fuck am I using Vista so much?  I like OSX better for general use.

Right now, my OSX partition is 400 gigs, and my Vista one is 100 gigs.  Maybe 120ish.  I forget.  If I fiddled with the partitions, due to the way the beta of boot camp works, I would basically have to reformat everything, or at least that would be easiest.

I won't be using X64 Windows for a few years, I think. Although I bet all my hardware is supported.  There are still a boatload of app and game compat issues, right?

Because you might be out of a job if Vista bombs?    :lol

Also, OSX probably doesn't have many of those indepent apps that are so useful for Windows.  And of course, gaming still sucks on Macs.

No, it's really not that bad.  Pretty much all my apps work properly.  Some of the games run noticeably worse on Vista but performance is acceptable for a majority of games.

What I like most about X64 vista is that it makes full use of my 4gb Ram.  With XP, I can only access about 2.8 GB.  The combination of 4gb and 64 bit seem to make things like data transfer much faster.

Why don't you install X64 Vista on a partition just to mess around?  I think you might like it.
