I loved Who Framed Roger Rabbit when I was a little girl. I used to watch it with my dad all the time.

tl;dr story:
I had a seizure once when I was like 10, and I needed an EEG, a test where they stick electrodes on your head and map your brain waves. For whatever reason I could only get 3 hours of sleep the night before the test, which was hard for a 10-year-old. I remember my dad stayed up with me, watching this movie, until 2am making sure I stayed awake. Then he woke me up at 5 so we could get ready for the test at like 7 or whatever. I think of that whenever I think of this movie.

While your watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit, make sure you watch the animated shorts too. They're only like the best animated shorts produced in...I don't know the last 50 years probably.

Dude, I just don't want to see Enchanted.  Nothing about it interests me, I probably won't find it funny, and Disney movies in the past decade have been godawful other than the Pixar shit.  And you can't honestly be serious when you say that Amy Adams derserves an Oscar nom.  :lol

Give me a call when they go back to meaningfull and artistic creations like they were doing in the 80s and early 90s.

Oh fuck off, no way.  Give me a link that says she's a lock for it, please.  Anybody can overact to be a Disney princess, wtf.

She's a fine actress, but for this?  Dear lord.

Yeah you are pretty stupid if you think its silly over-acting. It is probably one of the best reviewed movies of the year. Here are some quotes from reviews I stole at RT:

"In fact, the word OSCAR has been floating around, most frequently in connection with the film's star, Amy Adams."

"Now word is building about Amy Adams vying for Best Actress because of her performance in Disney’s “Enchanted,” which has enchanted both critics and audiences alike."

"Last weekend's first screening of Disney's Thanksgiving release "Enchanted," resulted in early critical huzzahs for the animated/live-action fantasy flick and immediate awards buzz for Amy Adams, a past nominee for "Junebug," who had not been on anyone's radar for this picture… Disney staffers seem (pleasantly) surprised that she is suddenly emerging on best actress lists. "

"What works for Enchanted is Amy Adams. In a big way. She's been getting Oscar buzz, unheard of for a film of frivolity such as this."

"Enchanted may seem an unlikely vehicle for Amy Adams to receive her second oscar nomination but as Giselle the 2D animated princess she just might."

"Adams, it’s already been determined, is a strong contender for the Best Actress race if, for no other reason (and there are plenty of other reasons), she plays a very likable character."

"Don't be shocked to see Amy Adams receive her second Oscar nomination for her performance in "Enchanted.""

Oh dear lord.

Gay Boy, I agree with you on many things, but this is just something I can't see eye-to-eye with you man.  I don't care how well reviewed it is–if its intended for little girls, it's intended for little fucking girls.  I'm not gonna find any enjoyment out of it: it's gonna be one huge eye roll for me.  If that makes me elitist, I'm sorry.  But I don't want to see this movie of all fucking movies overtake Oscar buzz from other movies like No Country for Old Men, American Gangster, or I'm Not There.

Oh jesus if she even gets nominated.

Do you want me to provide more quotes about its oscar buzz? lol.

It wont over take No Country but it likely will get more nominations than I'm Not There, easily and potentially American Gangster. It probably has about 4 oscar nominations locked down according to the so called "buzz" (best actress, best costumes, and 2 for music).

Enchanted has A LOT more praise amongst critics than I'm Not There and American Gangster. In terms of oscar buzz I'd say Juno, Atonement, & No Country For Old Men have the most attention.

I'm Not There is too cult and odd and not critically strong enough to really get much attention at the oscars I am surprised you even mentioned it.

Are you saying Enchanted is better than The Lion King?

People said the same thing about Finding Nemo. Still, nothing tops The Lion King.

No, its the best disney film since Lion King. I wouldn't count Nemo since its Pixar. I think Nemo is over-rated anyway.

And for you kids who care about the oscars Atonement right now is the leading candidate to win best picture, No Country is probably the strongest dark horse to upset it but as of today Atonement is the conventional wisdom.

Fuck this thread, I'm going to watch Blade Runner in SUPER MANLY 1080P to cleanse my soul of this.
Blade Runner >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Enchanted

As much as I love to praise Enchanted here it is not even on my top 10 of 2007.

I admit, I only mentioned I'm Not There because I think it'll get some props mostly for Cate Blanchett.  She better fucking get nominated for Best Actress, I swear to god.

It COULD get in for music or lighting or something that no one cares about though.

But still though, ENCHANTED?  Ugh ugh ugh

Uh I highly doubt she'll get nominated for it, there has been no talk at all about any actors from that movie having a shot at it. But yeah technical ones maybe but there is no "buzz" for those lol.

Whats wrong with enchanted getting a acting nod but not i'm not there? Enchanted had better reviews and praise generally, no?

Zemeckis had a pretty dang amazing streak in the 80's there, didn't he?  Yeah, WFRR is pretty flipping awesome, and anybody who doesn't love Back to the Future, I mean, c'mon, whats up with that?  Oh yeah, and there's also this...

Enchanted was aimed squarely at little girls and should only be enjoyed by little girls. There aren't any excuses here ladies.

I was forced to watch it with the fiancée, her mom, and her niece and I'm STILL pissed.

If you were my boyfriend, I would have a rule that any movie we watch had to have a minimum of 1 tit or 1 act of manliness

Okay, if you're allowed to quote shit for this bullshit "Oscar buzz," than so am I:

"The Jude scenes are so well done they make you giddy with delight and unease. Blanchett disappears into the role as eerily as she became Kate Hepburn a few years back: The pipe-cleaner legs, the masklike shades, what critic Janet Maslin once called the "fabulous corona of unkempt hair." This Dylan's a terrified jerk, teetering on the edge of self-immolation, and the music crashes out of him in torrents."

"Blanchett's, of course, is the star turn. both because it's an inspired stunt that she executes with aplomb (she's a more convincing Dylan, no joke, than she was a Katharine Hepburn) and because she's playing Dylan in 1965, the year he lost his old-folkie admirers on his way to rock stardom. With a fabulous frizz do, and a posture stooped by the burden of celebrity, s/he cavorts with the Beatles at a garden party, meets Allen Ginsberg (Arrested Development's David Cross) on the road and — it was always a game with Dylan — deflects reporters' questions on his political opinions. "Who cares what I think? I'm not the President. I'm not some shepherd. I'm just a songwriter.""

"And I haven't even mentioned Cate Blanchett, under Wayfarers and frizzy hair, who does a spectacular, soul-on-the-sleeve enactment of Dylan in his Don't Look Back media-put-on phase. Blanchett makes Dylan a cussed dude who uses his wit to wound, and Haynes' slyest joke is that the actress, from her lurching marionette posture to her boyish cheekbones to her slurry misanthropic mumble, is the film's most exquisitely spot-on Bob."

"Cate Blanchett, who plays Dylan when he went electric, is getting deserved press for her uncanny performance, which goes beyond the mere impersonation she delivered as Katharine Hepburn in "The Aviator." (The Newport Folk Festival scene alone is worth the price of admission.)"

"All the performances are brilliant but Blanchett's is an act of wonderment; she plays Jude like a marionette ambivalent to its puppeteer, contorting and shifting to "Ballad of a Thin Man," body unencumbered by formal ways of movement."

Maybe they won't include her in Best Actress, but for SURE Supporting Actress.
