My first instinct was to set a synbios story in some sort of traveling carnival, either in the late 19th century, or possibly during the Great Depression.  I mean, I ain't racist or anything, but Holmes was built for freakshows, you know?

I've been bouncing around another idea, loosely ripped from Mr. Arkadin, which is cool, because nobody knows shit about Arkadin.  However, I am not sure how entertaining it would be, and I am also focused on Maurice's Rainbow right now.

Synbios could be worked into a Hunger Artist style short story fairly easily.

I'm more of an In the Penal Colony kind of guy, but I can see Hunger Artist working better.  I mean, nobody could feasibly believe that Doktor von Flippers could operate and maintain an elaborate execution device, right?

Hmmmm, I figured Cheebs might be a candidate for his own story, but I can't really think of anything that fits him, offhand.  Maybe he will appear in Maurice's Rainbow, but I feel like it's not really a fair use, and it might not exactly fit in due to the rules and structure of the near future I have constructed.
