iPod ? Zune ? Zen

Which one is the better mp3 player? I'm thinking about getting one for someone for their birthday, but I have heard conflicting stories about all three vs the other. So far, I like the idea of the Zune ... especially being able to customize it on their website.

The 8GB Zen is great, but many of them (including the one I owned) seem to freeze up and the screen turns white. Sometimes you have to reset the Zen a dozen times just to get it to work. Too bad, I liked it otherwise.

The Zune seems pretty solid. It's a little on the large size and I am not enamored with the software. The audio quality is very good and the video quality isn't bad.

iPod, especially if it's a gift. It's what most people without an MP3 player want.

And they're pretty damn good (price and feature-wise). I love mine. The Classics and Nanos are great deals at their prices.

The Zen sounded better than my Zune, which sounds better than the iPod.

I go for creative personally and have had no problems, multiple ipods have broke on me.

I dont like mp3 players, I buy them and lose them. Ive since given up and use internet satellite radio and a portable drive. The ipods are fine. I had an awesome Shuffle, a great Video, and hell, my Zune was ok for the 10 minutes I used it. Im sure the Zune 2 is fine too. Fuck im sure creative is fine too CAUSE THEY ARENT DOING COMPLICATED SHIT.

People bitch and moan about stuff breaking while leaving out all those wonderful details that provide CONTEXT.

I dont even use the things and i'll say its safe to buy any of those brands.

Did any of you guys own a Minidisc player at some point? I gotta say, those are the best portable audio quality I've heard. I own a Sony Net-MD, but these days it's acting kinda weird. After it's done recording, the discs seem blank? And nothing happened to it since the last time I used it since it's been gathering dust ever since.

i've got a creative labs zen vision m which i adore and a sansa 2 gig thing i got for $30.

i prefer the zen, but the screen is busted so i need to get a new one

I just got an iPod Touch today from my wife.  It replaced the Mini I used for the past three years.  Never had a problem with Apple's mp3 players and this thing is great; really easy to use too.  The only thing that sucks is you have to convert video files to iTunes compatible formats which is fucking annoying, but for music it rocks.  Only 16 gigs though...that's good for me since I survived with a 4gb for so long, but still.  Oh and internets on this thing rocks.  Making this post on it now leeching off someone's signal.
