yeah, i figure i'll buy one today. i understand 2 is a better game than 3, but is one guitar peripheral much better than the other? might also pick up the rock band disc at some point -- no enormous box of wacky pretend instruments for me

Les Paul (3) is wireless, Xplorer (2) and Stratocaster (RB) are Wired

3 isn't bad, i doubt you're a hard/expert player, which is where majority of the complaints come from

you can always trade in GH3 at walmart and get RB, lol

If you're going to play *at all* with other people, Rock Band owns guitar hero. and tbh RB still owns guitar hero even if you aren't.

But GH3 is okay I guess. If you like eating poo.

The complaints come from medium/hard players I think. Like me.

PS3 Rock Band guitar is wireless, but you can't use Les Paul or Xplorer

Guitar Hero 3 isn't really that bad. The boss battles are annoying, but there are only 3 of them. For what it's worth, I like the track listing on 3 better than 2.

there are codes you can input to unlock all the songs on quickplay too, i used it on the wii version to dick around with songs i liked

i have this apprehension that i'm about to get some non-RROD malfunction that microsoft won't fix for free, but the ps3 version of gh3 is wild homo on a number of levels, so what can i do

Save $100 and download the PS2 version. HD graphics don't matter much for GH.

i actually did download the ps2 version of gh2 when i first made this thread, but i never bothered to play it -- i'm such a dedicated graphics whore that hd does matter here

edit: You can get GH2 disc for $35 at EB/GS, how much is a GH3 guitar? It might be cheaper for the better game.

the ps3 version of gh3 apparently has worse graphics, plus you can't use the guitar with rock band, plus there isn't any ps3 version of gh2, which i may want at some point

I'm not a big fan of the dinky-ass Les Paul that comes with GH3. The Xplorer works better for me because the neck is much skinnier and comfy, my only issue with the Xplorer is the start/back buttons suck monkey ass.

it's pretty fun, first couple tiers don't seem particularly hard on hard -- though i guess that dragonforce bullshit is coming eventually. but where's clive :'(

the wires behind my AV setup are INTENSE. Because of my layout, the consoles are by my couch, next to the projector, a bit out from the wall. I built a three-dimensional screen to hide the wires from site. Like a little tent.

you can find GH2 for 360 pretty cheap used nowadays

i sold mine for $25

there is an insane cluster of wires behind my setup - counting htpc wires and ethernet, tv wires, optical cables for audio, video game console wires, power cords - there's 32 in total

well, i gave up on hard when i got to that zz top bullshit...it's just one big fucking solo, and i can't bring myself to practice songs in rhythm games. normal seems stupidly easy, but maybe it'll pick up.

i really like gh3's music selection -- there's one sequence that's like paranoid, anarchy in the uk, kool thing, my name is jonas, and evenflow. which is better than anything gh1 managed. and actually its note patterns on hard have at moments given me the sensation of making chord shapes on an actual guitar...which i don't remember getting from gh1 either. i think harmonix did a better job of producing interesting, musical patterns on normal, however. and gh3 doesn't have harmonix's style -- the loading screen maxims are neither funny nor true, the characters and arenas look stupid, the female characters are all whored up. it's more tony hawk than rock and roll.
