I'm a major fan of offline RPGs but still can't for the life of me find the appeal in MMOs... take the most mundane aspects of traditional RPGs, and add a healthy dosage of social delinquents to converse and interact with, a total lack of interesting combat, and an insane time commitment to make any sort of progress. I've seen lives be either compromised or outright ruined due to MMO addiction...

Not surprising at all. PC gaming has been growing just as much as consoles. It's scary how much money PC gaming has been lost to piracy. PC games in other genres shoudln't sell that badly even if just 10% of the Warcraft community play other games, which is a very conservative estimate.
