Brian Eno has the guitar FX...and the bass line is like 20,000X better!

Giving it the Telegram Sam treatment is no good.

The Eno recorded version is not one of my favorite Eno songs.  A lot of the shit on the latter half of Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy) just seems kind of, I dunno, gray or brown or boring, even when the music itself  is killer.  And Third Uncle is a great example of this.  The covers routinely show us it's a great fucking song, but the Eno version just seems a bit limp in comparison.  Anyway, Bauhaus cover for me, no surprise.

Probably a bit of both.  It's not like Eno ever had particularly good vocals.  I am more impressed that Bauhaus made the song so manic.

I thnk thats why I prefer the Eno version. I dont care about the vocals at all - I just love the arrangement and the music.

I like taking Tiger Mountain, HCTWJ and the other 2 or so Eno albums I have of the similar post glam style...and of course all of the minimal/ambient stuff....

I CANT STAND ROXY MUSIC :(

The first three Roxy albums are pretty awesome.  After that they are hit and miss, but they usually have one killer song, at least.  And they have the best album covers of all time.

I dont know why I dug these out again over the weekend - but good times for sure.

Its been like 5 yrs since I have had a proper dose of Eno.

Need to scoot around to this side of the collection more often.

Another Day on Earth has a handful of really good songs on it.  That was his first vocal album since like Before and After Science.  It's a pretty hit and miss album, but This, Just Another Day, How Many Worlds, and a few others are worthwhile.  Note that he has gone soft, so don't go in expecting rousing rockers.
