"Gaming Steve" is still the best gaming Podcaster ever
« on: January 29, 2008, 03:08:19 AM »
I haven't listened in over a year since he fell off the face of the planet.  Buuut, I downlaoded his recent show yesterday, and listened today.  The guy is a compelling, sharp motherfucker.

http://www.gamingsteve.com/

His take on everything, is usually spot the fuck on.  He doesn't take the trendy route like most gaming podcasters, he takes the intellectual approach to his opinions.  Even if I don't agree with the guy, I can't help but admire his take on current events and the gaming biz in general.  He is well thought out and a brilliant orator.

One of my heros for sure.

Top 3 gaming podcasts of all time:
Gaming Steve :bow
1UP yours w/ Luke Smith :bow
Retronauts when Jenn Frank isn't there :bow

ppffft podcasts

I prefer to listen to myself say the battle speech from Eternal Sonata over and over, its more poignant/relevant to current state of 'gaming'

podcasts are usually so awkward that they're embarrassing to listen to, but i'll give it a try anyway.  dorks just aren't meant to be doing radio/tv shows, especially with no training, education, or ability.

I find it ironic that the OP talks about this "Gaming Steve" guy being such an intellectual, and then goes on to list 1up Yours with Luke Smith as being his second favorite.  :lol

I find very little that comes out of Luke Smith's mouth "intellectual".  Not that I hate Luke Smith on a podcast, but more often than not I find him to be all about that annoyingly raspy and overdone laugh, and attempts at humor that fall flat.  When he's purely discussing the industry he's a bit more interesting though.

Where did I infer that the Luke Smith era of 1UP yours was intellectual?  He is just my favorite shit talker.

It looks to me that your hunt for internet post irony is a huge flop.  Sorry....

It just seemed safe to assume that you're a fan of intellectual gaming discussion, and thats why you had so much love for "Gaming Steve".  Then you named Luke Smith and I giggled.

Luke is a brilliant broadcaster in his own right.  His quick wit and good humor makes him a win for conversational/confrontational podcasts.

Totally agree with you - I listened to 2 podcasts in my whole life... one where Retronauts was covering video game music and another with an interview of Ted Woolsey - and almost fell asleep due to the dull, monotone voice the podcasters had.

I LOVE that retronauts episode.  Parish's dry delivery is captivating.  I have every Retronauts episode saved.   :heartbeat

If you're a fan of the current consoles you need to listen to 1up Yours.  It really is the best gaming podcast going.
