I'm going to buy it, but this is what I had suspected.
1) Capcom invested a lot of money in this game, and they took their time developing it. What with rising development costs, they NEEDED it to be more accessible than the previous entries, because. . .
2) The series has been in a downward spiral. First game sold over 4 million, the second sold 1.6, and the third one sold 1.3. Capcom wants to make the game more approachable than ever in the hopes that word of mouth will bring back some of the people turned off by the difficulty (or alternately, shittiness) of the previous games.
I am basically considering this game Devil May Cry 4: Devil May Sell Out, based on word of mouth and the demo.
Fortunately, I'm not going to complain, really. I have less time to dedicate to games, but I like finishing them.
