I just bought it. drohne is too scary for me to post anything else tho
i'm just messing around in here, and anyway i'm not that confident that dmc4 will be as good as dmc3. i'd like to hear what you think
Well, i realize this series has a lot of long-term, hardcore fans so I don't want any casual observations from a Ninja Gaiden fanboy like me to diminish people's expectations unduly. I hate the way GAF hangs on bebpo's flip-flopping. GREAT SUCCESS! OH NO IT AM ACTUALLY MASSIVE FAIL!
With that said, I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I liked DMC1 and 3 as well, though i didn't finish either for various reasons. Nero seems fairly similar to Dante in the early going (lvl 4 now) but I doubt it will stay that way for long. I've barely unlocked any special moves yet, despite finding THOUSANDS of orbs...gah. I went for 'Devil Hunter' difficulty but it's really pretty simple so far. I use about 3 or 4 moves in combination and it's easy to clear a room without getting hit. The bosses are more challenging...but I knew how to beat Berial from the demo so not so bad. As Groo says, there's a lot of tedious last-gen stuff to contend with...non-seamless levels being the most annoying. You can change your controller set-up but if you do, all the on-screen combo tips still display the defaults...jesus people, how hard is a text string search and replace?? And i just did a secret mission that i had no hope of completing since it relies on a special move i haven't unlocked yet! grrr. Timed mission scoring is very irritating when you have puzzles to complete. even simple ones...Also, platforming with a fixed camera is distinguished mentally-challenged. Half the time you can't even see where you're supposed to go with the Devil Bringer jumps. It's a literal leap of faith a lot of the time, and if you miss a jump, you can end up having to re-clear a room full of enemies before you get another try at it. Lots of little niggles like that. Anyway, the actual combat is a blast and makes up for all of that and more.
Just got to the frog boss on lvl. 4. Taking a quick break since I'm finding hand cramp to be a problem since you have to be attacking constantly due to the lack of any sort of guard/block button (at least so far).
