I beat the main quest in Naruto: Rise of a Ninja this morning. Trying to decide now if I want to do some of the side-quests or play something else.

I beat No More Heroes, and viewed the regular ending just to see what it was like. Utterly disappointed, I watch the credits, and save my clear data, thinking I would be given the option to load back in the hotel room.

WRONG

Now I have to re-play the entire game in New Game + mode.

Fuck Suda, this game is trash.

I had to go to the in-laws' yesterday, and the Wii went with me.  SHITLOADS of Smash Bros. Brawl got played.  I'm still not finished with adventure mode yet...around 76% or so now.

Today I played a ton of playstation - time crisis 4 followed by a ton of snk fighting games - king of fighters xi and ng battle colliswum are amazing fun. We need a new samurai showdown.

I also managed to make a bit of progress in dw gundam. The game is addictive.

I also played more pixel junk monsters. The difficulty really ramps up by stage 4 if you over provision the wrong tower types.

Played more Smash Bros. yesterday too with a friend of mine who was nuts for the GC version.  He loved it, but actually came off a little unimpressed...he thought it was overhyped.  YOU THINK?!   :lol

It's awesome being able to play the adventure mode 2P simultaneous.  Platforming awesomeness.  :bow

Today I played a ton of playstation - time crisis 4 followed by a ton of snk fighting games - king of fighters xi and ng battle colliswum are amazing fun. We need a new samurai showdown.

You're out of the loop, my friend.  Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkakuden, the sixth SS Game, hit arcades in late fall 2005 and got a PS2 port in January 2006.  The game is supposed to be coming to the U.S. in the Samurai Shodown anthology collection, whenever the hell that gets released.

There's also Samurai Spirits Sen, a brand new fully 3D fighter coming to arcades.  It looks really, really good so far and is supposed to playing like a cross between Soul Calibur and the original Samurai Shodown.  It's made by Tenchu developer K2 Software, but WAIT-- K2 happens to have staff who worked on Samurai Shodown 1 and 2!   :o  I'm looking forward to playing it.

Here, for the 934939449349349349349349th time, is some stuff I wrote and pics I took of SS Tenka in 2006.

Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkakuden.  You can of course get it from all the usual places, like NCSX and Play-Asia.

Brief game info:

The game has a HUGE roster, featuring every character from all the 2D Samurai Spirits fighting games.  Characters not seen in playable form since SS2, like Gen-An, Sieger, Nicotine, and Wan-Fu are all back.  SNK also added bonus unlockable characters to the PS2 version, such as Kuruko.  Even the courier has returned, running across he backgrounds, tossing out various items to use.  You can select whether or not you want to use these items in versus mode.

There are six different fighting styles to choose from, based on all the past SS games.  In addition, three bonus PS2-only styles can be unlocked as well.  With these styles and the added fifth button (for dodging and countering), you get a host of game play features, like the return of the CD style combos from SS4.

Visually, the game looks better than the last few SS titles; colors are more vibrant, special attacks have been enhanced with transparancy effects, and the backgrounds are all high res 2D.  The character sprites are the same as always, but the overall look of the game is very nice.  There are no filtering options, and the game is lacking in blood and character deaths, however.  You can choose between original and arranged soundtracks, view pictures in the gallery mode, unlock more modes like survival, and more.  Load times are minimal at around 5-8 seconds per match.

Basically, SS Tenka combines all the 2D SS fighters into one excellent package.  This game is by far the best SS game ever made, trouncing even the almighty SS2 in my book, and is the best 2D fighter out on home systems (so far) this year.  With KOF XI coming out this week, it will be facing some stiff competion!

The new characters:

Old characters return to fight again.  That's Nicotine, doing a super that turns him young, in the second picture.  :)

Newcomers include Iroha, a snow maiden, and Ochamaru, a spirit trapped inside a mechanical body.

Sugoroku, whose attacks are based on items/traditions used in Japanese Matsuri (festivals)

Andrew is an American soldier who uses a musket.

Rez HD and a bit more Eternal Sonata

I get some fucked up crash bugs in ES... like after certain bosses (the boss of the Fort for instance), if I backtrack the game freezes on me. WTF???

I came close to beating level 5, but died near the end of the final boss. My shotdown ratio up to that point was 83%. I do have >95% shotdown on the other four levels, though.  :-*

Thanks for the NFO on the SamShowdown.

That looks great.

I have so many new fighting games recently - and a ton already - I love how there is room in the library for all as they are all very different and satisfying in their own ways.....

Im kinda in the mood for some Powerstone----but not on PSP.
