Who wants to read bataille's Story of the Eye?

I highly recommend it.  Especially for Prole, who found the transgressions of 120 Days of Sodom to be a bit silly.  I find this one much more heartwarming.  Ripe for a film adaptation it is.

I'm stuck at work so I'll read it

what's the historical context, I've never heard of this but it's from 1928

was this French originally?

omg, Of Montreal's "The Past is a Grotesque Animal" is about this story!

I listened to that song like 5 times on Thursday (it's 13 minutes long)

Now I HAVE to read the story. To get context!

Yeah, it's nifty stuff.  It's considered one of the foundations of literature of transgression.  I think it's much better than de Sade because there's actually a nice little narrative to it.

Bjork said that she wants to record herself reading parts of the story and release it.  I can only imagine what she'd pick, and if she would actually put eggs in her ass as she read it.

If you google around, you will find many interpretations of the story.

if you haven't, read his AV Club interview.  It's very fascinating and provides a lot of context for Hissing Fauna (which has been in my CD player for my commute all week.  it's my ultimate "i hate everything i wish i were dead" CD, so it's perfect for work)
