Turok impressions
« on: February 03, 2008, 06:20:14 PM »
Solid impressions for far, it's not one of those AAA titles, but it's a good little shooter that is really dampened by the wtf-inducing controls. I'm not sure if it's not my controller, but other people online reported having the same problem, it's really hard to aim in Turok, for some reasons they decided to drop auto-aiming and they have this weird variable scroll-rate system going on.. It's hard to explain, but it's barely unplayable. The weapons so far are pretty fun and original; being able to one-shot kill anything with the knife is  :-\ but I barely use it.

I'm about a hour into the game; it's pretty good for what it is; but the controls .. oh god the controls are barely workable. I hope this get fixed with a patch :|. Multiplayer mode was fun too, it was kind of a wasteland but then again I believe street date is officially next week; or is it? I picked my copy at my local best buy shop.. Anyhow

A fun 7.5/10 title so far.

I don't mind the controls in the demo, I don't get the beef.

I don't know how you could call the guns original.

Are the standard levels better or the same as the demo?

rent it

It really doesn't feel like Turok at all.  It's like everyone says, a Gears of War FPS with raptors.  Everything from your buddies to the look of the machine gun barrel fire to the bullet marks looks exactly like Gears of War.

I love the nerve of him ridiculing some other game, as if his shit is anything close to A-grade.

I also love everyone sucking his dick every time he says anything in that thread.

Or how he said that any dev that can't get a PS3 game to look like a 360 game is lazy and sucks.

I love a lot about him and that site.

Someone should tell The Chef that he doesn't have to viral market Turok, bishop's already got it covered.

Yea, I don't see the problem with the aiming at all. It just doesn't have auto-aim.

Which is good because without it everything feels more immersive and engaging.

Rent the game and try it out - its decent and safe for the few $$ rental.

Im glad I got it - needed to clense the memory of Turok Evolution.

My friend is starting to want to get it even though he was even less impressed with the demo than I was. If he does, I will.
