So it's the video game equivalent of the Transformers movie.

I really like the mechanics. If they had reduced the Vision Points to say, 4 per region, and either added more sub-missions or had fewer of them (so I don't feel like I'm skipping content), and if you could skip cutscenes and if they weren't so damn drawn out in the first place, and if the end of the game wasn't FIGHT GUYS LOL FIGHT GUYS, it'd be A-.

AC2 has the potential to be AAA.

kind of agree with too many viewpoints.  but I guess they wanted them evenly placed and they used a real city so that makes it hard to just use 3 super high points in all of jerusalem.

it'd be stupid to allow the player to skip the cutscenes (because of how much info they're given in them) unless they were replaying the memory block.

you should be able to skip the cutscenes if you have already seen them (memory block, dying..etc..)

the game had many wrong decisions IMO but was still enjoyable.

one example of a distinguished mentally-challenged decision is the Kingdom area, a freaking huge place for what? traveling between 4 cities that you can fast warp to them later? viewpoints? flags? templers? nicca please.

I wish more games had a fast warp option. Chances are your overworld is not the least bit interesting for me to wander aimlessly through.

well 1998 was different, and besides, OOT field wasn't as huge or annoying as AC (knights running after you all the time just because your horse is going fast) and at least there was a day and night cycle.

in short, good execution and variety is what AC needs the most.

Yeah, I think Kingdom was a waste of space, but perhaps they intended to use it for other stuff, but ran out of time.

Yeah, that seems plausible. I mean, they have all this stuff you can do like killing templars, finding flags, and climbing towers, but there was no point to doing any of it except getting achievements, and what good does that do you on the PS3 version? In the PS3 version they could have taken the Kingdom out completely and you really wouldn't have missed out on anything. It seems like they originally planned to do a little more with that, but then scrapped it because they didn't have enough time. Or maybe they just decided all that collecting wasn't really that fun, and only left it in there for masochists.

But the flags and templars existed in the cities too... it's like the kingdom only existed so they could show off their amazing horse riding engine.
basically.  hope the sequel shows they had an actual use for it.  I was so happy when I learned you can warp.

Yeah, the cutscenes are a vital part of the game - I wouldn't want to skip them.

That's why I said they should have cut them down. Why do I get to hear Altair tell another assassin EXACTLY the same thing that the person I just killed said? I fucking get it. And each of those repitions is loooooooong. Not to mention that almost every mark says essentially the same thing. Ugh.

Agreed.  Make them skippable in case you don't give a fuck about the story.

AAA regardless.  And I like collecting all the shit, you bastards.

Paradox: AC is the game I have nothing bad to say about and yet liked the least. Mass Effect I savaged every chance I got and liked the best. EAT THAT ZENO.

precisely--I described AC to my friends as "the best game I've ever hated" and Mass Effect as "a game made of nothing but flaws I still somehow love"
