Is there a way I can find out what brand my drive is?

I had a problem with my original Xbox, its disk drive died on me one month after owning the system, and then they replaced it after I shipped it back to MS.

samsung-toshiba is no longer used and it was the most faulty drive.

benq is awesome for me so far and the newer hitachi-lg is good for my friend, it's louder than my benq but no DRE he said.

I was leveling my dudes so the mortals would have all their skills, but I wound up getting enough SP to learn all their shit anyway.

I only got the Tolten achievement because the levels cap off at 49, 52 is the last skill for the other dudes.

Is there a way to have mortals learn the skills of other mortals?

And I love this game. Only complaint is the costume design. SMH x 3 BILLION at Sarah's outfit.

No. Mortals are useless anyway, 4 immortals + Sed = victory.

What's wrong with Sarah's design? Ming's is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged, Sarah is pretty regular.

no, the mortals have preset skills, the only way to give them skils they dont learn by themselves is to equip an accessory

whats wrong with Sarah's outfit? I quite like the costumes in this game.... esp. Kaim's

IGN AU: Where did you look for inspiration in creating the look of the characters for Lost Odyssey?

Daisuke Fukugawa: Characters were originally drawn by the great comic artist, Takehiro . He is extremely talented at depicting 'people' and one of the rare artists who can illustrate the internal emotions of characters. His profoundly designed characters answered to Sakaguchi's intentions to explain 'people' in the video game.

IGN AU: The characters wear quite colourful clothes with an interesting mix of styles. We can see elements of medieval clothing/armour, traditional Japanese clothing and futuristic designs. How did you arrive at this mix of styles?

Daisuke Fukugawa: All the costumes of main characters were designed by Hideo Minaba, who had been in Final Fantasy team for a long time. This artist has the abilities to illustrate a wide varieties of pictures such as image board, characters, and environment. In Lost Odyssey, his creativity met Sakaguchi's scenario and Inoue's character designs to come up with unique costumes which are free from nationalities or era.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/852/852173p1.html

if only Inoue had full liberty to do everything, would have been better imo.

IGN AU: Can you discuss some of the concepts or designs that didn't make the cut and why they were dropped?

Daisuke Fukugawa: One example is that we did not use the first design of Tolten because it looked too strong for the character. It was redesigned to a weaker and immature appearance.
well, i guess that's the reason  :lol

although i like his weak look.

Mack is a neat design, cooke is on her way to MAURY'S I WEAR WHAT I WANT I'M A HOT TEEN episode

I do like Kaim, Seth, and the others though. Maybe not Jansen. Man scarf? lol

Kaim is wearing a midriff, people would be going APESHIT if it was Nomura (well, I guess in that case it would be yellow).

there are quite a few girls i know i'd like to see wearing those outfits like sarah and seth....

unfortunately the chicks that wear stuff like that are the anime dork bitches and they have nasty banana tits with stretchmarks that make me throw up in my mouth.

on disc 4 ancients cave with the stupid monkey thieves that make me want to scream at the moon.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
as soon as i saw them i cheated (went straight to gfaqs) and found out that there is another item in a chest in plain sight i can steal and have them steal it from me.  then i kill the monkey queen and get my shit back.
[close]

the kids are starting to annoy me and i want to punch them in the face.

for good levelling you should go to the terrace cave on the south-western edge of the map.  i went there on accident because i thought that was where i was supposed to go and got mad levels to 43.  it makes the fights way easier.  i also read about another place to level after beating a few more places on disc 4 and you better believe my ass is gonna be there levelling like that shit is out of style.

ok, i finally got around to buying this thing (J version).

I've stayed out of all the threads so far, so if anyone has a minute or two to spare, i'd appreciate any (relatively spoiler-free) tips for the start. Are there any miserably bad classes for your main character or character combinations, or anything I should really do before hitting such-and-such a boss etc? Any side-quests that lead to uber-items that you'll need later on?

I ask mostly because I accidentally killed off an awesome side character (Anna) in Planescape on first meeting her, before putting 100hrs plus into that game. When I read some FAQs later, I regretted it like crazy but not enough to make me do it over. Anyway, that's the sort of fuck-up I'd like to avoid if possible.

just talk to everyone in town before you move on, that's the best thing you can do.

most of the real sidequests are on disc 4, you know? the typical "there is the final boss and there these places you can go, do whatever you want".

there are no classes here, you pick your character based on their skills and if you don't want this character, you can let an immortal like kaim steal his skills.

for example, mack have a skill called combo (2x attack at one turn) i love this skill but i don't want mack so what do i do? let kaim and seth learn it, simple as that.

as for items, seed slots are the most important (gives you more skill slots for immortals) so you may wanna check a guide for a list, but as i said if you take your time and talk to everyone you won't miss any or maybe some, there is also 99 normal seeds you can get and exchange them for items and accessories, check gamefaqs if you don't wanna miss any.

also, always check the items bosses carry, you might find great stuff to steal like a seed slot.

final thing you must know, all items you missed can be won in the auction house later at disc 4.

yeah, the bosses might be hard at first due to the lack of skills (kaim and seth ain't magicians so stealing black magic from jansen won't due good) but once you get more characters and accessories (you can learn skills from accessories) you will be fine.

Is the Temple of Enlightenment the only place you can go if you want to get higher than level 49/50? Gongora's Lab and Numara Atoll don't do it.

I did the first portion of the last dungeon, I think I'll turn the game on and polish it off right now.

Just started doing some of the subquests in Disk 4 (see spoiler)... not sure whether or not I'm gonna go 1000/1000 in this game, I'll probably get most of the achievements, even if it means the arbitrary Seed hunt (I already have 74/99). Definitely gonna get all the stories though.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Namely Gongora's Secret Cave

Ive had 2 dre's and both on disc 4.... not sure what the story is... I make sure to save frequently

Treasure Trove is a bitch, went through several dungeons with a fine tooth comb last night... manged to find 4 things I missed (two of which were in chests) so Im definitely turning stuff up... only a matter of time before I get the achievement hopefully

I have heard horror stories of people racking 130 hours play-time and not getting it, splitting up with their 'girlfriend' etc.

All beacuse of this damn achievement

The Seed hunt wasnt too bad, I just used a faq and had them all within a couple of hours

The side bosses are totally worthwhile achievements, all have been very easy to beat. And If you beat several of those butt-heads you'll get an outrageous bonus

btw, i am really disappointed by the extra areas because:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
1- they are too easy (bosses HP are what? 9000? wtf were they thinking?)
2- too short, areas are like...point A to B except for the temple of enlightenment
3- need voice casting

i have yet to go to inside the temple of enlightenment and i know it's harder there (normal enemies give me some trouble and their HP is big) but they should have given it a different look than the ancient ruin, really lazy there. (i know they are both part of the eastern tribe ruins but still)
[close]

also, this game has the best looking enemies/bosses in any next gen game ever, really glad they went with UE3 for this alone.

and one last thing, what's up with the total lack of support from MS/mistwalker? where are the dlc? i'd love to have hard mode like BD, seriously.
