I love my britcoms, but my tastes are pretty mainstream among britcommers: Coupling/Black Books/Red Dwarf/Black Adder and now FATHER TED WOOO

dcharlie, they are fairly niche.  I think most of them are probably too risque for network TV, so they are stuck on either PBS (whose programming is different area to area) or on cable networks.  So naturally, they don't get a whole lot of exposure. 

Non-comedy BBC/British shows are like, basically nonexistent in the US.  I'm not even sure how I originally got exposed to Touching Evil and Cracker.  Actually, it was probably my brother, since he spent a bit of time in the UK.

It's funny how you change as you get older.

I tried watching this show about 10 years ago. Couldn't get into it for whatever reason.

A couple of weeks ago starteded watching from the beginning and just finished the last episode last night. And I thought it was great.

I miss that we've lost more seemingly broad but good comedies shows like this both in the UK and America.

Father Ted is genuinely a hilarious show.

I watched it for the first time when I was hunting for more stuff from Graham Linehan of I.T. Crowd fame since that series was so fucking good and I needed something to watch while waiting for season 2.
