Didn't Square recently announced they were developing an engine for the WII? The WII will get much more 3rd party support from Japanese developers if both the PS3 and WII continue to sell in Japan as they did in 07. I"m not convinced yet that PS3 will turn it around in Japan.

I don't know if they have a full blown engine, but they said at GDC that are able to take some of the features from the Crystal Tools toolset and use them on the Wii.

Mario is Racing a Kart Wii will be out mid-April. Other than that, uh... Opoona is coming sometime this year in the states isn't it? Nintendo keeps their cards ridiculously close so there'll probably be announcements later.

Well, at least I've still got Mario Galaxy. I played it for about 10 mins before I got sick of the blurry graphics. I'll definitely give it another try when I can hook it up to a decent CRT. The WII just ain't meant to be played on a LCD or plasma.

Vitrtal Console games look really good on my LCD, but anything 3d

So at least the Wiis good for something other than bizarre smoked out drunken party sessions (which are actually pretty good)

I've noticed that cartoony/cel-shaded games like Paper Mario look much better than other WII games. They really should stick with that kind of style more often.

Zelda:TP doesn't look too bad on a CRT but on my LCD, everything is horribly washed out.

I only have a 4x3 CRT which can only do 480I. I'll like to find a 16x9 480p CRT of at least 36" before they go out of production.

Looking at the current console situation, I think we'll start seeing some good 3rd party stuff for the Wii from Japan. Seeing as how most Japanese games struggle to sell even 1/2 a million on the PS3,

I don't see how Japanese companies can make money without supporting the WII. Of course, they could start making stuff for the 360 but that seems less likely.

I dont get the Excite Truck hate... sure it's a 'lil janky but once you get used to the controls and scoring system, its hard to put down. Its really fun! Controls are awesome

Anybody else dig light gun shooters? If so, you're probably looking forward to House of the Dead 2&3, which will have all the extras from the DC and Xbox versions, plus a little bit extra and 1:1 aiming, and Target Terror, which is the port of the surprisingly fun and ridiculous arcade game. You best believe I'll be on those.

That actually sounds kinda interesting. I'll give them a try if they come out with some new light-guns instead of those lame add-on peripherals.

drohne buddy, I'm sorry to break it to you, but your experience is not typical.
On my 26 LCD, I've only got to be back about five feet for some pretty awesome and authentic light gun fun. Other dudes on GAF have reported similar reports of non-sniping distance calibration with Ghost Squad working and working well. I don't know why it is, but your dire situation is not like everybody else's.

Perhaps you'll be heartened to know that on Gamestop's video preview of HOTD2&3, they mentioned that they've improved the calibration process over Ghost Squad, maybe you'll have better luck next time.

then i really can't imagine what my issue is -- i'm playing on a 32" lcd, and i need to be a good 8' back before i can hit the calibration targets. i've tried multiple sensor bars, multiple sensor bar positions, etc. i'm tempted to try it again...i need to hook the wii up for nmh anyway

no, it's simply that my wiimote can't 'see' the sensor bar when i point at the far corners of the screen from a normal distance. i don't know why some other people have had such dramatically different results. maybe they're not holding their wiimotes at arm's-length in a gunshell, maybe their gunshells haven't got sights and they're not really pointing at the corners, maybe there's something freakish about my setup. WHO KNOWS

American pubs still primarily see the 360 as the lead piece of hardware. Although there is growing sentiment that this could be a big year for the PS3 hardware wise.

As for Wii everyone is holding out for a non Nintendo original IP to be big, until then expect more ports/budget titles.

I think XBLA and PSN will see more original IPs this year than Wii. Seems like people believe downloadable games will hit critical mass long before Wii content.
