God of War: Chains of Olympus

I never really warmed to the first PS2 game (still haven't played 2), but somehow - even though the playstyle is basically the same - it's a perfect fit on a handheld.  Easy to control, not a lot of bullshit platforming (so far), and the Quicktime events aren't as stupid.  You get to bust a dude's head open with a chest full of gold within the first five minutes, too, so that's a bonus.  Pretty WOW production values for PSP, too.  I'm diggin' it.  Anyone else get this?

i don't get the length-hate. i think gs said ''you can easily finish it under 7 hours.'' i mean, that's only about an hour shorter than gow1; and this is on a handheld and is $40! wtf.

Yeah, I may step it up to Normal.  Easy is a bit too easy, I think.

i'm diggin it so far -- it seems to work better for me on a handheld, where i don't mind the lack of a real combo system and can enjoy it for what it is: simple, stupid, slickly produced superfun.

sounds like a winner, and if you get to smash a chest FULL OF GOLD on someones head, this could well be GOTY... that is if Lost Odyssey and Omega 5 werent already out and Etrian Odyssey 2 will probably be coming out also

Oh my God, this game is fuck awesome. I didn't like the game back when I originally played it on the PS2, but it's a perfect fit for a handheld title. The production values are insane, everything in this game is so slick. :D

Easy Mode is a bit too easy I think. I hope the difficulty picks up. I am only at the second save point, and I am kind of debating on whether or not I should start a new game on Normal.

so I started playing this

it's super polished and competent

to the point that I stopped playing it almost immediately

I already played God of War I and II

why do I want to play the exact same game again?

wait, I don't

Year of PSP abruptly ends

EDIT: If you're not burnt out on the first two games, I can definitely see the appeal--the game is shit-hot.  But for now? Eh... I'll get it in 9 months on the PS2 for $20.

I'm willing to purchase another PSP for this game.  My previous PSP dropped 3 feet and ceased to work ever again. Thanks SONY! I don't quite understand why they made that damn thing so fragile.  It's like carrying a newborn around all the time.

I hope GoW:CoO sets a new standard for PSP action games.  I swear, GoW presents a style of play that a number of games could build upon.  Castlevania comes to mind....

Bandai Namco says it's going to refocus development on its Gundam games from the PS2 to the PSP, for what it's worth.  Doesn't sound like a dying console to me...

This game is indeed pretty great. Although, much like the PS2 games, doing those semi-circle turns in QTEs can be infuriating. It feels weird to be playing such a grandiose game on a tiny handheld with ear buds...gonna be stranger on the train tomorrow!

I've dropped my PSP from a greater height than that with no problem.
