Not gonna happen.  Sony's making a profit off the hardware, they're not gonna kill one of the few gaming things that's bringing in money.

Actually DS is doing way better.  Pokemon and Cooking Mama sold a ton of copies last year.

There were so many pre-order promotions for God of War and a ton of folks pre-ordered it ages when they thought it was coming out LAST year (placeholder dates lolz), that it's likely a good portion of folks simply forgot.  I really think I'm going to be stuck with a ridiculous amount of backstock.  Unlike Patapon, where we got like 10 reserves, but everyone picked up their copies.

I think God of War will do a decent amount of business, but the well looks extremely dry after Crisis Core.  There is literally nothing for us to recommend to customers to reserve afterwards in terms of a big, mainstream game.

What do you guys do with preorders that aren't picked up for like a year?

The money stays there until that person cancels their pre-order.

Even for like 5 years? There must be a cutoff date right?

Is your computer cluttered with NHL2k and Sonic Adventure 2 preorders when you look at them all?

You really think that the PSP library is that good?  The PSP is a nice handheld but almost all its games have better equivalents on home systems.

As a machine that can also play old ROMs, then I guess the PSP really rocks.  If we're just talking about the PSP's own games, I still feel that most of them aren't different enough from the stuff that I can play at home.

Hahahaha. I still have my Game Gear. That thing ran out of batteries in like 10 minutes. The only game I enjoyed on my GG was Outrun and Fatal Fury and that one Sonic game where you could be Sonic or Tails. That was a REALLY good game.

i was super hyped and got a launch unit, but it just never materialized

whereas the psp was a great launch unit and continued to be good.  the launch games are still stellar.

my problem with both handhelds is the lack of capcom support, and by capcom i mean MEGAMAN.

2 average ZX games and 2 psp remakes with no sequels.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.

Yes, the h/w is selling VERY well

the software? not so much.

I wonder why  :lol
I DO wonder why, actually.  The library is extremely good.

That's about how I feel.  To be honest, the only DS game I can truly say I REALLY enjoyed (and still enjoy) was Contra 4.  There were plenty of other GOOD games, but nothing that really stuck with me.

Ah, yes.  I had forgotten about the piracy.  :(  That's really pretty sad.  I mean, I do enjoy the homebrew scene on PSP and the fact that you can enhance many games via memstick loading and a higher clock speed, but it really has hurt the market.

PSP piracy is just too damn easy to pull off and it seems to have become common knowledge.

I remember the PSP launching with what I'd consider the best launch lineup in the history of gaming... Lumines, Ridge Racer, Wipeout Pure, Metal Gear Acid, some other games... but then for a good solid 8 months there was absolutely NOTHING coming out for it. DS had a horrible lineup, but by the middle of the first year, I'm like yeah this is gonna kick ass. The best days of the DS are still to come, DQ9 obviously being the killer app for the thing.

"best" is arguable, since majority have the same functions - the flashcard scene is extremely saturated, so I just picked the one that has the best support

i use an M3 Real (formerly M3 Simply), which comes with a GBA cart (and Rumble Cart), that lets you play GBA games
