Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix makes its downloadable debut on the XBLA and PSN by utilizing the original game code, while creating a fresh upgraded experience with new artwork and high resolution 1080p graphics. In order to stress test the online capabilities, Capcom will bundle a beta with the Xbox Live Arcade release of Commando 3, which will last for 8 weeks and let you play one stage as either Ken or Ryu.

Demi, I edited your post...it's not "Commandos 3," it's Commando 3, AKA Mercs 3.  Makes more sense now.  :)

How about they just fucking release the game already?   ::)

I read the developers blog a couple of hours ago, and they just announced that they're redoing ALL of the character sprites (because the original were too detailed and became a technical nightmare in animation). The people on their forum are saying it's another eight months.

Who is saying it's another eight months?  Capcom people or just fanboys?  If it's the latter, the appropriate response is  ::).  It's nice to see that they are going back and redoing everything to make it smoother and fit it within the right size limit, but it also sucks that the level of detail and color went down.  Also at this rate, it really does look like Street Fighter IV will be in arcades before this game is released.  They are killing their own hype with these delays.

Meanwhile, THE anniversary re-re-re-re-re-re-remake that really matters, KOF '98 Ultimate Match, is hitting arcades NEXT WEEK, with a PS2 version soon to follow.   :bow SNK  :bow2

I get the feeling HD Remix is really a way to test and get the right network connections made for the home version of SF4.

What's another 8 months? SSF2 or Commando 3?

SSF2T HD Remix.

They are not redoing the sprites to fit any size limit.  MS gave a one-time expception to this game to go over the size limit.

Do you think it matters that the PlayStation 3 does not have a size limit? Some developers, if they're going to do a multiplatform download game, the way they're planning, or the issue of what they have to work with becomes more complex for them.

JW: It's always case-by-case. I think we granted a one-time exception for Street Fighter [HD Remix], because it's such a good game with so much put into it, but in general, Live Arcade is all about pick-up-and-play games and accessible games.

...

They changed the art style because people were saying the old one sucked.

actually they upped the limit for castlevania:sotn before...

from 90 to 150mb.

edit: by exception, does he mean that..this is the only game that will go over the 150mb limit? that's distinguished mentally-challenged if true.

bionic commando will be getting shitty treatment like that.
