I don't think i'l be going to the midnight launch, it's not really exciting enough for me. But I will go and pick it up first thing after work tomorrow.

I still haven't seen much gameplay of it :'(

I went to pay off my copy today at 10AM and the GameStop duder told me I would have to come back after 6 to get my reserve thingy so that I could come back, again, at midnight to pick up my copy.....what a bunch of bullshit.

It's called pre-ringing. If people just came and did pick ups without being pre-rung, it'd take forever for people to get their copies at midnight. They're doing you a favor. They're basically ringing you up for the game, which they have to do REGARDLESS if it's paid off in full and give you your final receipt. So that at midnight, they can just hand you the game instead of doing a pick-up in the POS at midnight. Imagine doing that for 250 people?

No, probably not for this game. But keep in mind that store's inventory is based on their reserves, so if it's a crappy store with no reserves, supplies will be limited.

AdmiralViscen, stores will be allowed to pre-ring as early as 6 PM, but I won't be doing it 'till 8:30 PM or so. I want the store closed and some control over the environment.

So anyone know if I'll be able to store my customized cars permanently like in Saints Row, or for the sake of realism are they going to make customizing cars totally pointless?

Also, can you do full on co-op or no?

holy shit this game is incredible. Good animation, world that feels alive, the cell phone kicks ass, but most important of all: the characters are totally believable and voiced perfectly. It's such a step up from the other games imo.

My only complaint so far is that it's hard to evade attacks when doing hand to hand combat. But I didn't do much of it yet, so I might get better.

after playing a couple hours

GOOD

- characters are well done, i really like the main character, writing seems better than past gtas i have tried
- so far, less "hahaha lookit that an ad for DOOKIE brand chocolate bars" type humor
- gps system, thank you for finally giving a shit about letting me know where i'm going rock*
- the phone really is useful once you get used to it
- map is laid out clearly and is easy to use to set waypoints
- nice mix of music

BAD

- driving is hopelessly busted, fucktard AI cruising the streets doesn't help, i'm all over the place like a crazy person, don't these people make a driving game, why can't they get this right
- melee combat is tedious
- fucking bowling dating minigame, hope the strip club one is better
- passenger characters won't shut up when you're driving
- graffix $:-\$

it's the same gta with a few neat and helpful features, hardly revolutionary

haven't tried online yet, but that might be where the innovation in this game lies

All the cars drive like shit... very disappointing

I got an achievement for taking a Taxi from one island to another without skipping... glad I got that one over

BTW, taking taxis is the best thing to do to avoid driving these shitty fucking cars, and it only costs on average maybe $10 (it costs extra when you force it to skip the driving)
