So many gamers I know, and many on GAF, use credit cards to buy their games/systems and then get in debt. It's just an extremely stupid move to put one's financial stabilty in danger over an expensive hobby. Once I turned 19 I started getting credit card offers in the mail every month. Now, I make sure they're all sent to my parent's so so they can be cut up, and so I don't have to deal with the temptation. Debit cards are the way to go people

Guys like Drinky, on the other hand, seem to be able to balance videogame purchases with family responsibilities as well as financial ones.

The only problem with a debit card is it doesn't count towards your credit history. I had serious problems buying my first car because I had always paid in cash or with my debit card. The only way I got that loan (from the credit union associated with the engineering company I worked for no less) was to put a fairly considerable amount of money down.

I save my fucking money. The reason I'm able to get a Wii is because I saved for it goddamit. Shit dude, you can afford a Wii with like 2 pay checks.

HDtv will take me atleast 2 months save money for. Goddamn fuckers.

Here is how you do game money:

During the summer you look at all the upcoming fall releases you're interested. You make a total. Save up atleast 500-1000 dollars over the summer and voila. Bingo. Game money without inflicting damage on credit.

Man, it's sad when people have to support their hobby's by using credit cards. That's fine if you want to do it and can pay it off every month.
