Please tell me the sense of speed gets better in Carbon.

I've got the X360 and PS2 versions of NFS Carbon at home, and I fired up the 360 version last night. While the game looks good I'm just not getting ANY sense of speed from my first car. Hell I had to look at the speedo to see it was doing over 100... and the lame ass "speed lines" aren't doing it for me.

After EA did such a good job with the sense of speed in Most Wanted I'm trying to figure out how the f*ck they screwed it up so badly in Carbon.... Carbon really seems like a step back so far... maybe it'll get better as I progress in the game. I mean the presentation is a nice step up, I like the various conversations cinemas, but the actual racing sense of speed is completely a$$ at this point.

this game was quite simply awful in the rental ive tried, and i cant understand why it gets so many high scores... even the framerate isnt great... the sense of speed is indeed awful

from my perspective the story mode with creepy b-movie FMV characters and a laughable "underground racing" universe that tries so hard to be hip and cater to the lowest common denominator is some of the worst shit ive ever seen in a game since the Sega CD FMV gaming era

ive read many comments from people saying that it indeed devolved from the last one... typical EA fuck-up

Im afraid to buy EA games period these days. Theyre the publisher most open to dick-in-ass customer options. I mean the Future Battlefield game has spyware all over, microtransactions, adsx in games fuck all that noise.

Besides, I heard Sega Rally is being deved by a team  of people that worked on RSC2

No idea because I've never even looked at the online store for any game I own.

At lunch time I went home and fired up the PS2 version... and found some differences in the presentation... stuff I didn't expect actually.

In the X360 version some of the cutscenes feature CG versions of the drivers in their cars, the first blocker you meet there's a cutscene with him pulling up to you and you see a polygonal version(really good one actually) of him including his face talking to you from the drivers seat of his car(as oppose to other cutscenes where you'll get the real person "in" the polygonal car.

Of course the graphics take a hit on the PS2 but the game actually looks similar to Underground 2... and more interestingly the sense of speed seems to be higher.

That's distinguished mentally-challenged.
