You could always just rent a PS3 from Blockbuster for a week and get your fix without shelling out the dough. Hell, even renting it for two weeks would be cheaper.

They haven't for some time, no. The closest you'll come to renting a console here is to buy one at Circuit City and use the no-questions asked return policy. Can you rent 360s there? What a country.

You can rent any system here, at multiple stores. It a great money maker, rent the system out enough times to cover it's cost, then sell it used at $100-$120 off for pure profit. I'm blown away nobody in your area does this. You need a verified CC to rent one mind you, but I'm assuming most folks have one these days.

Well, renting out Xbox 360 systems sounds like a dumb idea to start with, and the PS3 launched at well over half a grand which makes it a pretty big theft risk. I remember you could rent a Playstation back in the day, and presumably you could rent systems last generation too, but now? Too much liability for everyone involved, I think.

At $500 I'd hardly consider the PS3 a huge theft risk, considering the whole verified CC thing, which would just mean you sold one more PS3 at the end of the week if nobody returned it. Hardly a loss for a game store or a video store.

The store that I worked at made crazy money renting and selling 360's & PS3's, and the type of folks who would try to steal them never had a CC with that kind of room on it in the first place. In the end, I would say it's far dumber NOT to rent them out, considering you could rent out a bunch of $60 games that could easily lose you as much due to theft.

But, I'm derailing the shit out of this thread, so I'll leave it at that.

the LE is 25$ more and comes in a box with a cardboard front, a limited soundtrack, documentaries that will be on the web in no time flat, and a copy of the regular shitty boxart edition instead of a nice custom shinkawa cover.

walked in and asked the clerk if i could see the limited edition and he's all "i think it looks really cool". i hold it up by it's side and see the card glued to the front, i give it several sharp taps - sounds like plastic! i then ask him if he has any regular editions left and he said "we only have one". uh, okay. like i care? am i supposed to feel special? just give it to me!

what a joke of an LE. good news is that i saved some duckets for ToV and IU.

It looks really cheesy in that pic, but it's actually nicer in person (after the plastic wrap is off.) It's pretty HQ material and the "card" is actually thick paperboard with a very nice printing on it. They even put a removable plastic sheet over it to protect it.

I was worried-- in that pic I posted it looked like the card would come right off.

Still, the LE isn't exactly what I expected...a little too minimalistic, not enough useless shit ala Working Designs.

i will admit that it did look decent in person. i was still really tempted to get it for collection purposes alone. but for 25$ more you are getting ripped off with this LE.

i mean look at all the shit that came in the gta4 LE and it was only 5 dollars more. ffs konami should have went the distance here for their fans. slapping a card on front of a plastic case (why plastic?) is sad.

I'm quite content with an artbook, CD soundtrack and Blu-ray documentary disc for another $25. Better than a bunch of superflous crap I'd never use.

The LE of GTAIV was not $5 more. It retailed for $89.99.

It's not a cheapo plastic case either. I'm not sure what it is--it's like hardcover book material, but more smooth, matte, and almost a little rubber-ish. It's very classy looking.

Still, it depends on how good this extra blu-ray disc is (which I can't watch until I finish the game, according to the spoiler warning card they pack with it.)
