Or they could just make a REAL Castlevania game for the Wii. There's no reason something like this needs to exist.

They'd just make another 3D one if they went that route.  Given the game isn't called Metal Gear Whip, they'd be given a five dollar budget and made to use the pre-existing Curse of Darkness engine, and we'd just have another pair of shit pants in our hands.  At least this project isn't tying up Yamane and Kojima, so maybe they're working on something else.

I just want another 2D Castlevania on a console, is that too much to ask?  :-\

2D Castlevania is finished.....

whatever coolness could have been left for future sequels was raped away and wasted on too many GBA/DS games.

He died with Castlevania Chronicles and Ayami Kojima's reimagining as a red-haired bishie in fur-clothing.

Whatever we used to know as Castlevania is dead.

Castlevania died with Circle of the Moon, revived for Dracula X PSP, and now put to rest again.

The annual Metroidvanias have set the bar for the franchise so low.  Metroidvania fans have essentially been playing the same game since 2001.  You can't fault Konami for making this shitty game because for years, people put up with half assed Metroidvanias.

I've felt this since Dawn of Sorrow released. It finally hit me that Iga and his crew found their formula (no platforming peril, pathetically weak enemies, bland stage design) and they weren't to be troubled with changing it.

Despite all of this, I kind of feel a fighting game for Castlevania could work but they've already fucked up some of the most cherished characters so my enthusiasm has been shot.

Listen, I already played one horrible fighting game with Simon Belmont (and Solid Snake, Optimus Prime, Bomberman, and others) last generation.  Don't need another one!

I can't see most of the pictures at work, but the character design looks terrible.  WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY THINKING?

I can't even begin to understand how stuff like this gets the greenlight to be made.

DreamMix TV World Fighters. It's a Super Smash Bros. Melee ripoff. I imported it for the 'Cube, but it was bad. Played it once, and then went back to the real thing.

Is there any chance you will ever play the game? If not, keep believing the game is awesome.  Always stay that way.  Someone has to be pure.

And the reason that people hate the Iga Castlevania games is becaus ethey are such huge nerds they feel the need to play each one only to bitch about how they played it before.  I'm sure someone who just picked up PoR as their first game will love it and have nothing to complain about.  They are fun games despite the last of evolution.  This is the reason I didn't really like DoS or PoR, because I am that huge nerd who plays all the games.  Castlevania is one of my favorite game series.  I still think Aria of Sorrow is fantastic.  Harmony sucked horribly, but still.  Circle of the Moon was great also and was the best example of how to merge the platforming aspects of pre-SotN games with what came after.

Just like the people who have never had the "luxury" of playing the Takara developed Transformers PS2 game from Japan?

I can't believe people willingly pay $40+ for used copies of it on eBay... Ichi sent me a copy of it in his awesome care package last Fall. I'm really glad I was able to see how bad it was for myself, but I'm also glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Castlevania is a dummy project to keep IGA off metal gear

The DS games are far from terrible and they only sell like 100k units anyway.

I don't see why people think they're anything better than half assed efforts.

Basically you just throw together a large ass, complicated castle.  Be sure to throw in some backtracking.  If Iga is feeling especially adventurous, make two castles and some kind of city in between them.  Palette swap enemies or barely modify them at best and you have the enemies.  Basically all you have to do is copy Symphony of the Night but make enough minor changes to make it seem like a different game without fucking it up.  Even then, sometimes they can't do that (Harmony of Dissonance)

Having played every single Metroidvania except for the second DS one, you can't be shocked at Castlevania Fighters Wii.  It essentially follows the same half assed formula that made people cream their pants for the handheld CV games.  Maybe if gamers stopped buying their mediocre offerings, this game would have never existed.
