Probably needed something for next month.

In one of the BWU Bungie said they'd have a really high presence at PAX and motioned for fans to come...but who knows after this, they might push this further if MS has an X08.
It just seems strange that MS pulled the plug on this after Bungie teasing this for the past weeks and months, then after Harold Ryan (Bungie studio manager) posts that message apologizing to the fans about the fact that MS backed out, we see that Don Matrick himself confirms that Bungie is working on another Halo game (or expansion according to others, but where the superintendent character comes into I have no idea...XBLA?), basically stealing Bungie's thunder.
It was strange to begin with that this was relegated to Bungie having its own conference with basically no mention in MS's. Either it's planned or MS is being a dick and with Ghaleon (who claims he knows what happened) saying he quit the Xbox 'MVP' program, it seems the latter.

Could be. I've often said that the natural extension to the Halo franchise after the conclusion of the story would be a something along those lines.

bungie are dead-set on peer-hosted games. so i seriously doubt it

in any case, cancelling an announcement after starting a public countdown is pretty weird. probably wouldn't happen unless there was some fairly serious discord or miscommunication.

Would you rather have ads and shit like that in those blank spaces? I think it looks cool if they have good themes that fill that area with cool art or something. I have a Jet Set Radio theme on my PS3 and it makes all that blank space well used.

It could be better, but like, this is genuinely good taste for Microsoft. It is like the first steps to appealing.

I was agreeing with him, but they used the WM angle, not the OSX angle.

No, I get that....but of course it's not the OS X angle....they got rejected from Apple.

As upset and frustrated as we know folks are, we hope it's at least a small comfort that our fans know we share their disappointment. We left the splash page up for the folks who didn't see the message or were planning on tuning in the following morning before the news vanished into Bungie.net's ether.

3. But Harold Ryan is only a TESTER this has to be fake!

Harold was a tester, but assumed the position of President a while ago. Crazy Wiki's and their misinformation.

A couple of far lower priority side effects of us not making our announcement are that the Podcast we recorded and the E3: Livin' the Dream mockumentary Sketch and I were filming have hit some snags. The Podcast will be filed away in the "archives" and will be anachronistically released at a later date. The video experience, E3: Livin' the Dream, cannot be salvaged at this time.

They already have Portal! It is like making a big deal for them putting Halo 3 on XBLA. This is also hilarious considering Microsoft turned down Portal for XBLA before the game got super popular.
