They showed alot more core stuff that was playable and not just cgi.
I've been waiting so long for the 'potential' to materialize. The cool stuff seems always delayed or a long time away.
it's called planetside
Just woke up. What was announced on the PSP front?
where was DC Online mentioned? Did they show a clip or anything? Now, that's something I can get excited about
Quote from: y2kev on July 15, 2008, 04:21:06 PMit's called planetsideYeah, I played the beta of that one. It was a laugh. And I don't remember it having a ton of squad and command features.
Oh God it was the best thing ever then slurp slurp

All you have right now is a video with no gameplay. It might happen, man, but you are WAAAAYYY too early (particularly with a massive online game) to be going into hype/defense mode on this.
did they show WKC? i came in a bit late. did they show any exclusive rpgs/jrpgs for ps3?
It's an FPS. It's PS3 exclusive. Of course he will hype/ defend it, just like HAZE.
i figure graphics-wise most MMOs aren't that great, so if they just make it look decent that's okay with me, as long as I can make a Plastic Man ripoff
It's an FPS.
Come on.Planetside and WW2 Online were both terrible games that nobody really liked. The concept of the giant FPS still hasn't been done right. This could be it. I dunno
e3: no xaggle, no saggle, and a bunch of shitty super waggle
I think the concept sounded more like BF2 than Planetside. The squads, commander. It's BF2 with 256 people.
Well, so far the super-cool shit has been RE5, Infamous and Gears 2. Pretty damned expected showings so far.

People who think the Sony conference was good probably just watched the Nintendo one
The concept of the giant FPS still hasn't been done right.
Oh, and that XBLA Portal game was kind of a cool announcement too.
i loved BF 1942, and you can kiss this moron's ass right in the fucking crack
I want Jarosh to make a video of a slow pan across the Wii Music stage set to Requiem for a Dream
Overall I'd say Sony's conference was the most enjoyable to watch just because of Tretton. I like that guy. Probably the only PR guy I've ever seen at E3 that seems real.
Quote from: Synthesizer Patel on July 15, 2008, 04:43:11 PMI want Jarosh to make a video of a slow pan across the Wii Music stage set to Requiem for a Dreamass-to-ass, much like nintendo's entire E3 lineup.as for large-scale FPS games, I think the main problem is lack of enforcing the organizational command structure of the game. Everyone needs to take orders from someone else, and you have to put heavy incentives/penalties in place to ensure that takes place. Otherwise you just get a bigger, even more disorganized Battlefield game.

Probably the only PR guy I've ever seen at E3 that seems real.Tretton is cool. He forgot to shake that brit's hand and insulted people who aren't alive anymore. Jim Lee was also awesome. Ted Price was also awesome. The MAG guy was also awesome. The dude who showed off the movies was awesome. No overweight bitch dancing on stage, no shitty ass singer, no soccer mom talking about how she broke her wrist or other bullshit. Sony was all about the men. When it comes right down to do it, no one really believes that females are into video games even if Nintendo has gay stats about it. Sony also had the best stats ever. I honestly want Microsoft to hand their new dashboard to Sony to demonstrate it. Microsoft doesn't seem to think that is worth time since they have some nobody female singing on stage.
what's to show of ff13 the game is vaporware. even for a huge betrayalton backstab announcement square couldn't muster up any "AND HERE IT IS RUNNING ON XBOX 360" footage. just a 10 month old trailer.fuck e3 in its ear.
When you compare what's coming out this fall for the 360 with what's coming out this fall for the PS3 I don't see why any reasonable person would buy a PS3.
Quote from: Draft on July 15, 2008, 04:29:32 PMThe concept of the giant FPS still hasn't been done right. not saying they were free of flaws, but both Planetside and Joint Operations had a lot of fun moments. I'd say JO's main fault was the small community that was drowned by the horde of morons who think battlefield games are good games. if JO was named BF2 and had EA on the box, the game would have easily been better rated and more popular than battlefield games. large scale FPS games are a sub-genre well worth exploring and supporting. small scale FPS games don't even come close to offering the visceral feeling you get when you are dropped off with a squad in a galaxy dropship to infiltrate and take over an enemy stronghold. or the feeling you get when you have a chinook full of soldiers and a buggy on board being escorted by 3 attack choppers as you launch a large scale attack on the enemy's last island. any game that attempts to do large scale FPS combat will get hype from me as long as it's trying to do it in an interesting way.
