community? understanding? shared values? there's a time and place to be nice, and there's a time and place to be mean. an opinion used at the proper time and formulated for effectiveness is a powerful tool for shaping community. calling a fat chick "gross" in a fat acceptance blog comments column is neither.

I wasn't seriously accusing you of being a fatty lover. But this isn't the first time you've wagged your finger at others for making fun of fatties.

While many of the comments on her blog went overboard, there's no point in trying to have a rational discussion with her kind. Any portrayal of a fat woman that isn't 100% positive is wrong. And if you don't condemn such portrayals, you're evil. So we might as well make fun of her.
