You seriously wouldn't move over one seat so that a guy could sit with his girlfriend? That's kinda fucked up, man.

It seems more like the guy was greedy and wanted to sit in the back with his girlfriend instead of going to a lower section where there were probably tons of open seats.

And yes, opening day was filled with a lot of manbabies.  Luckily during the actual movie none of this bothered me, but before it showed and walking out of the theater were really testing in patience.  There were the people who would make a joke like "Brokeback Batman!" and proceed to 'huckling' at their own wit.  Even more stragne was that these grown men weren't at work.

You know, I haven't read the entirety of the thread and only skimmed the article, but a couple of things I have to say about repeat viewings of films:

1. I really dig seeing flicks in the theater.  Probably cause I don't have a 20 foot tall screen to watch movies on at my house, or a comparable sound system.  So if a movie that I like a lot is enhanced by the theater experience (especially sound design, you can really appreciate good sound design if you sit in the acoustic sweet spot in the theater), I'm probably gonna see it multiple times.
2. Up until about a year ago, I had a lot of friends and acquaintances.  Quite a few of them worked in the film industry, or were trying to.  Of course they're gonna wanna see lots of flicks.  Not everyone can go see a movie at the same time.  Sometimes, if I enjoyed a movie I'd go see it with multiple groups of friends.  Of course, people who write for a film blog might not have so many friends.

So yeah, anyway, I don't think it's really very embarrassing.  Now, fanthings that dress up as jedis to go see Star Wars flicks and shit like that, THAT'S embarrassing.  Me seeing Children of Men multiple times in the theater = not very embarrassing.  Or at all, really.  I did see TDK twice, a Friday morning screening by myself and a Sunday afternoon screening with a friend.  Lots of other people have done so as well, and others have said their opinion of the film improved after multiple viewings.  So, anyway, dude is a wanker.

That dude sounds like a douche who got bro raped and now has to tear into "weird" people to pressure them into becoming bros so they can be raped and feel his pain.  What a puss.  Go pop your collar and play your gamecube mang.   :maf

NO CELL PHONES (BLOCK SIGNAL INSIDE AUDITORIUM)

No one was getting service inside the IMAX theater. :rock

Where did you go, the Cradle of Aviation? Or is there another IMAX theater out here?

Yep, that's where I went.

I rather enjoy people talking at the screen during movies, because most movies are kinda shitty.  If someone talks during batman i'll be overjoyed, because it's an overserious fan-wank comic book movie, and lord knows it could use some lightening up.  Plus I don't want dead time where I can hear some neckbeard being asphyxiated by his comic-con tee-shirt masturbating with popcorn butter.
the worst thing at the premiere was seeing all the manbabies with their asian girlfriends.  and this guy went around asking people if they would trade seats so he could sit on the back aisle with his girlfriend and shit.  why the fuck would anyone do that for a random fagbag?  goddamn, i hate them.  the girl i went with saw a bunch of manbabies with glitter shirts and shit and we were discussing the masculinity of the apparent target audience.

I would want to sit next to my girlfriend at a movie :(

What a thick, steaming pile of bullshit.

The only reason to not go to the theater is the are often dumbshits in it.  Other than that, watch away.

i think the article's on point. obsessively repeating a pleasurable activity is weird and childish, and the pleasure of watching a movie that fucking often has got to be extracinematic

people who've already played mgs4 seven times are weird in exactly the same way -- i don't ask that they go watch indie films instead, but they'd probably enjoy themselves more if they'd space their repetitions out

gaf is a really good news aggregator -- when i was on message board sabbatical i had read three or four other sites to replace it, and missed a bunch of stuff anyway. i don't know why i bother posting though

I watched The End of Evangelion something like 23 times in a week.  I have no plans to ever see The Dark Knight though.
