Since the PS3 keep getting shitty ports, I just buy all the "big" PS3 exclusives that Sfags hype up.  For multiplatform stuff, I always buy the PC or 360 versions.

I have a lot of disposable income, and my PS3 has one game for it, and like a bajilllion blurays. Lets not pretend its about the games.

I have a ton of PS3 games that get played on a regular basis.

Actually, there hasn't been a bad PS3 port in a while.  All in all this gen has been much better with multiple console ports than last gen was; don't forget that the PS2 market dominance meant that most multi-console games were limited by that technology and the Xbox versions usually looked far inferior than they should have been looking.

The PS3 ports aren't as bad now as they were 2 yrs ago but Eurogamer's comparisons still show them to be inferior to the 360 versions 80% of the time.

Yeah, but again, it is hardly inferior by a large margin anymore.  It is down to shit like the shadows in DMC4 being different, or a slightly lesser resolution.  The days of Turok (lol) looking like garbage on the 360 seem to be over.  Nothing very tangible or anything that would destroy the experience.  Even Madden is now neck and neck on both systems and no longer has the gimped 30 fps PS3 version.  Are the 360 versions still the best? yes, like you said; but PS3 only owners, or even those who just want to buy a game on PS3 for some reason (like me buying SC4 on PS3 because of my arcade stick), no longer get the ripped off by comparison.

Thinking back, it was actually sad how horrible the PS3 ports used to be.  Hate to bring up Turok again, but that was just some sad shit.  I only did play the demos, but it was ridiculous how lazy the PS3 port of it was.

Just counting my game collection, I would say that I have a little less than half the amount of PS3 games than 360 games.

That one was of course especially sad given the big talk of delivering basically identical versions. It seems like the big ticket items get the best treatment, which obviously makes sense, and I guess Turok wasn't that type of big ticket item. But certain people were so sure of themselves when it came to that particular game that the massive difference between versions came as a bit of a shock. But yeah, the multiplatform differences are disappearing or at least becoming far less noticeable.

Although comically, the smaller the differences, the more heated the arguments about them seem to have become. The COD4 thread on NeoGAF was a jesters blast and probably the first of its kind considering the closeness between versions, with people taking comparison pictures of close-ups of textures, and then larger shots to show off differences in AF, bitching high and low about being fooled by IW into believing that the versions were identical.

it's my way of telling Sony that that's the sort of games we want to see....

... this backfired spectacularly when Namco dropped trou and shat out Operation Troy on the X360.

That said, Operation Troy is way better... but this is like comparing the sensation of eating a bucket full of gravel vs. eating a sandwich consisting of screws and razor blades.

It's looking more and more likely that Bandai's mecha titles are going to the PSP, if not staying on the PS2.

troy , all joking aside, was nowhere near as bad as i was expecting. Offline it's utter garbage, but online it's short and snappy and the battles are fairly enjoyable.

It's still C grade, but i've come to lower my Gundam expectations and use CH for my big robot kicks. And ACE to some extent.

I'd love to try Operation Troy, but I already buy so much crap that I'll never play that I can't justify the purchase of a 360.

I would really like to try Operation Troy, but last I checked the demo was removed off of XBL after a long period of being gold exclusive.

My favorite Gundam games are Side Story on the Dreamcast and One Year War/Project Pegasus on the PS2.  I still really enjoy the PSP games and Musou, but nothing has topped those two games for me.  The FPS on Wii is actually quite good for the most part, and I did hear good things about the gamecube game.

Gamestop has it listed for October 1st

Hopefully there is a demo for the NA region of XBL.

Oh, and Char's Counterattack.  I really liked that game; it was one of the first imports I ever bought.

The intro was so awesome:

I'd still rather have a 360 than a PS3 as my second console. Sony has lost that image of always having a game to play or a library to satisfy.  The PSP library inspires no envy, nor does the PS3. It's LittleBigPlanet and then some franchises that are truly the living dead. The 360 still has much more that interests me in games. The console just hasn't had a big release in awhile. Nintendo blew their wad as well, but their games routinely last longer in sales due to a wide audience and the fact N games generally have great replayability.

Yeah that could be the case.  But I've seen posts on GAF and have some second-hand knowledge indicating that many devs don't get to see the full NPD results themselves.  I remember reading in one of those "Devs why do you read GAF?" threads that many said they read it for the hilarity and to get sales numbers.

Which games, Eel?

September 7th, 2008 - SPORE

September 14, 2008  Rock Band 2 (game only)

September 23, 2008  Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway

October 7, 2008  Fallout 3 Collector's Edition - I know it's cheesy, but I want that bobblehead and lunch box

October 21, 2008  LittleBigPlanet

October 26, 2008  Guitar Hero World Tour + guitar (I don't have a wireless guitar)

November 4, 2008  Left 4 Dead 360 (will also get the PC version once the mods start kicking in)

November 4, 2008  Resistance 2  (wasn't too thrilled with the first one, but 8-player co-op sounds neat)

November 7, 2008  Gears of War 2

November 11, 2008  Call of Duty: World at War

holding off on Mercenaries 2, Dead Space, Endwar, Force Unleashed, SOCOM, and some others I'm iffy about

Heavenly Sword, Lair, Uncharted, Genji 2, Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear Solid 4 - bomb after bomb. Every PS3 excluisve game disappears from the charts after being only a month out.

Where's PLAYSTATION 3's multimillion sellers like Gears of War? Halo 3?

LBP is next. Oh boy, will it bomb. Bomb HARD.

Crysis would still have sold better on PS3 though, am I right?

Unless you're a dumbshit who bought a bunch of VC stuff. In any case folks who bought a Wii and expected it to be a satisfactory sole console are a bit foolish considering how the 64 and GC went.

I want one now because until September, there aren't any 360 or PS3 games I want to play, and I can catch up on the 5 or so Wii games out that I want to play.  After that there's a flood of 360 and PS3 stuff to occupy my gaming time.  The closer it gets to September the less I will want a Wii.  They've had plenty of time to ramp up production on these things. It can't be stated enough - eat my balls, Nintendo.

The only reason I'd want a Wii is to play Virtual Console, but the only things I'd want to play on VC would be Mario Bros. and Mario Kart, but I have a DS which I also use to only play NSMB and MKDS so having a Wii for VC to do the same thing would be ridiculously redundant. So screw the Wii, from the ever-caring-to-own-one standpoint.

However, the Wii is a troll on the entire online gaming community, and I for one love it.

I hate it when people say "oh, but they're shipping more than any other console in history". While that is completely true, it doesn't negate the fact that demand is still outstripping supply here in the states nearly 2 years after launch. It's not like the company doesn't have enough cash to plop down for increasing production, which should be relatively simple anyways because the hardware is simpler. They must be using extremely conservative assumptions in their inventory predictions.

Nintendo has successfully kept up the supply vs demand hysteria going for 2 years, which is obviously working out for them. I don't for a second believe that demand would be anywhere near as rabid had the system been well stocked. We put up our ad, and given the fast, almost panic struck response to the ad, you'd think we were giving away gold for free. It wasn't even a good price for the system, but it was snatched up immediately, and allegedly, this person had been driven to desperation due to having had no luck in stores.

everyone on craigslist wants more than the fucking thing is worth, too

And they will get it. Not much more, but some. People want it (because hey, Bob and Janet has one, and it's such great family fun, even the dog wants to play with the Wii!), but they don't seem particularly interested in paying a ton of money for it.
