I still have no idea why PS3 is now outselling 360 in the US. I could understand that happening last month, when MGS came out, but this month, there's nothing... I think the whole RROD scare really fucked MS over and it turned off many a potential buyer. It's a shame, because outside of that (now fixed) problem, the 360 has the best lineup out of the 3 consoles and it has gone far beyond the original Xbox in terms of diversity and quality.

I've only been using my PlayStation 3 for movies recently, but I think that it's finally going to start getting some good games too. We all know that Metal Gear Solid 4 was an abortion. Yeah, that's what I keep hearing, that Playstation is synonymous with videogames.  Makes no sense since 15 years ago Europe was Segaland.  I guess the PSX hit at the right time.

Really, I think that Sony brand loyalty is the only thing that's keeping the PS3 above the 360.  I've seen many posts on GAF and other places from people refusing to buy a 360 just because "lol M$ 3fixme only for frat boys", yet somehow the PS3's similar (if not slightly lacking) lineup is fine for them.  Well, then there's those who don't care about either and buy a Wii.  Shit, there are still plenty of RPG players that refuse to accept that the 360 is the go-to system for RPGs and still stick with the PS3 because "Sony has always been about RPGs, eventually they'll all come here!"

It's even more bizarre in Japan, they just can't accept Microsoft.  The 360 has more "Japanese" games than the PS3 at this point, but I hope that Vesperia and other future releases will improve the brand image.

Microsoft and other USA brands are really unpopular here in EU. I understand the MS hate but not the US.

Since i am also from europe (germany), i support this post, (i just don't think people in germany hate american products, everybody here's into lots of ami stuff, and it's cool to have them). It's really like that, people are scared of microsoft, and microsoft and its products (especially windows) is generally viewed upon as low quality, or as some kind of evil that you have to accept, because you have no real alternative thing to use instead (linux and mac is too niche, no games etc).

One small anecdote: I rode in a bus a few weeks ago, and at one station it stopped, and the display thats usually showing at which station you are at went blank. The bus driver said "Sorry, we have to take a short break now, the operating system just crashed down. You can probably imagine which one we are using.". Almost everybody in the bus laughed....


So, if you decide to play games on consoles instead of a pc, which is a rare thing here in germany, a small to medium reason for most adult gamers (like me) is getting away from windows madness, and enjoy the simplicity of a console. and then you usually decide against microsoft, because Microsoft = Windows. Well thats how i feel a lot of people think here.

I see the superior game library of the XBox, but somehow even i tend towards buying a PS3 at the moment, even if it's more expensive. And since i am hanging around in places like this, i know that RROD is a thing of the past, and the XBox is safe. Weird...

I haven't turned on my Wii since Boom Blox came out. Everytime i look at the Wii shelves in a store, i ask myself why did i waste 250e on that shit.

DS is like my favorite system since the PS1, I think... so many awesome games released this year: Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates, Etrian Odyssey 2, FF4 DS, The World Ends With You, Bangai-O Spirits, and soon Dragon Quest 4-6 and DQ9.
