i just find it funny that MGS4 was supposed to not move any hardware...  and then it was dubbed as the only thing holding PS3 sales up...  and yet PS3 hardware is still selling without MGS4 sales.

You know, I remember sometime around last year people calculated that if Nintendo was suddenly wiped out and the Wii just stopped selling (like, 0 Wiis were ever sold after that moment), then it would still take until like 2012 for the PS3 to even match it at its current rate.

PS3 is selling marginally less shittily (to the tune of 200k this last year (the year of the PS3)), but is the TRAILING console. If anything these figures are worse news for Sony: in their own touted "Year of PS3" the best they can hope for is to claw back 200k of 5m or so? eek.

And it's not like they seem ready to have a brilliant fall either. If the 360 trashes the Ps3 again this fall like it did last fall then, these 20k a month won't do Sony any good.

It's true, but I still think that LBP is a bit of a wild card and could go either way (i.e. bomba or megaton). I am pretty sure that Fable and Gears are more middle of the road as far as sales volatility is concerned and will both sell well.

..fable 1 sold about as well as motorstorm and resistance did (which also have sequels coming this holiday).  gears is the only guaranteed big game.  i still think 360 will take back NPD this holiday unless sony cuts price, but it's not like 360's lineup is much stronger.

in the end though Microsofts Xbox 360 is profitable. Sonys PS3 is not.  Microsoft has no problems loosing to Sony by 20k or so each month when they make money  and the other company isnt. When they still sell more software, and they still have a lead that if it continues at this trend will take many years for it to evaporate. So yeah if anything its alot more shittyer for sony. Sfags just dont understand the buisness side of it. Thats two decades of winning the gen that does that to you

Obviously, xfags can't understand the business side either. Thanks for setting the true war relying on 1st party games. What is it? Sony's 15 to MS's 2? It will definitely take  a lot of battles for the PS3 to win the war, and they have been winning a lot. The war isn't won and lost in a year or even 3.

I don't even care as I'll have a 360 for F2 and then gears2. It doesn't matter who wins, but I know I'll win as a gamer regardless.

I didn't read too much of the thread but my thoughts:

- Microsoft needs to drop the price.  PS3 is still expensive but it has had price cuts.  360 has had almost none.  I understand Microsoft wanting the 360 to be in the black but you have to maintain hardware momentum to continue the software momentum.  Even 360 software sales are lacking the strength they did in 2006 and 2007.  If Microsoft continues their strategy, soon, they will be barely above the PS3 version sales.  Then the 360 software sales will begin to slump behind the PS3.  This might mean taking a little more loss on their systems but no more special editions, no more altering hard drives.  Cut the price.  Clean.  Simple.

- Wii Music will sell a shit ton because not everyone just cares about rock music.  It will tap demographics that Rock Band and Guitar Hero are not reaching.  I'm sure it will do worse than Wii Play or Wii Fit but it will still sell several million copies because the Wii base (soccer moms) will buy whatever shit is on the posters when you walk into Wal Mart or Target (pronounced Tar-Zhea)

- PS3 fans should not declare victory yet.  US sales are only half of the 360 and that is still 5 million.  Selling 20,000 more units a month, the PS3 will never catch up.  It needs to be a good solid 50k+ more a month than the 360 before you guys start shooting loads in your pants about how the PS3 will dominate.

Hey, the only reason I'm still in this thread is because i'm annoyed that i'm seeing what I consider perfectly reasonable opinions being denigrated as fanboy spin. For example, I agree with you that there is no reason to buy a 360 now. But when that gets translated into 'lol @ xfags in 'wait for Xmas mode!' I haven't played a sports game in about 8 years, but normally the NCAA games played better than the pro counterparts. They also had more options (season modes, dynasty modes, recruiting .. etc). Just a more well rounded sports game overall (but usually worse graphics).
