yep. So far nothing has beat FF for me. Opera was eh, never tried Safari. I loved Netscape before it got bloated and annoying. I'll attempt googles for a min, BUT MAYBE they are added what you browse into their DB so they KNOW what you are doing!  :o

Another good thing about FF is that you can have a shit ton features (Addons) or a basic install. FF3 is a lot faster then previous versions.

 :-*

The .exe is only 475kb

Update: It DLs the browser. Nothing new there, but a nice way to manage server load. Oh, I need to close Firefox. The error messages and cute and friendly, but the design is still intimidating.

Update 2: So far this thing is BUSTED. It won't load any webpages and it's crashing empty tabs. The look is nice, but it feels incredibly "cold".

Update 3: Ahahahaha. The whole thing crashed. Wasn't this supposed to NEVER EVER happen?

Update 4: Yeah, it doesn't load shit. It just gives me error messages and then crashes. Nice.

Okay, just had to reboot.

I dunno. It feels weird. I'll use it for a few days, but it just feels light weight, for good and for ill. I like that each tab is a separate instance. but I just haven't had that many problems with FF3 to consider than an upgrade. Maybe I'll see the advantage as I start to use multimedia heavy apps.

Already, it's way better with rendering than IE. It's virtually identical to Firefox in terms of the way it handles CSS. All of this just makes it feel like a FF plugin and not a full browser.

And it's lightning fast.

It's freakishly fast. I'm used to having that like 1-2 second delay where you get to process the layout. Chrome just goes VOOM and there it is.

Not sure what you mean exactly. I'm on 1440x900 resolution and I have no size difference between Firefox and this.

Is there seriously no way to disable browser history without using their "incognito" feature?

Right now it feels like a stripped-down version of Firefox with a slightly cleaner UI. There's also a really annoying scroll bug. Although it does seem slightly faster than either FF or IE.

Same res here. I have to zoom in with FF (cntrl++) in order for text to be at a readable resolution, but I don't see anywhere I can change it on Chrome

Yeah, right off the bat I didn't notice any speed increase, but it's definitely become quicker after a few minutes. I'm going to use this for a week or so and see how I feel. I only have a couple of extensions in FF3, and I think I could live without them. Adblock is nice, but I haven't noticed any annoying stuff yet. And I never even had the chance to really get into using Ubiquity.

Yeah I just came back here to post that. The memory hog thing at least. With 30 tabs open it's using  ~20% more memory than Firefox. I think the separate process thing is a result of their "sandboxing" as they call it

i dont usually DL beta browsers, but i can still complain from  a few stuff:  why put tabs at the very top?  they're a very busy target for my mouse pointer, and putting it farteher away from teh center of the screen is no-no.   and the minimalist design can be done by FF, you can enable/disable menu bars, etc by option.

And taking out the status bar? SMH

and my google bar, among many other plug ins such as tab mix plus, is why opera can never be better than FF imo

Still, a google browser =  me excited

chrome is a beast for our internal web based applications

we utilize a lot of drop down java boxes for a horrific front end that was built in 2002 and then saddled with a ton of different changes.

chrome took forever to load the pages into memory once and now it's near instantanious

it's damn amazing as far as that goes

however w/o adblock, i won't use this for any casual surfing.  i like being able to block out images that annoy me.  usually avatars on gaf.

So far that's my favorite UI feature.

The thing seems to hang and ponder frequently; not sure where their "everything is a separate, non-interfering process" stuff is taking place. The Negative Zone?

As far as AdBlock goes, I don't see a company that administers ads implementing a feature in their browser that allows you to block them. Then again, I don't know shit about coding, and I guess since it's open source there might be hope, but I doubt we'll see anything significant for a while.

But yeah, that EULA thing has pretty much scared me off for now.

Not entirely horrible, its missing some stuff but it IS fast even if it hogs some resources. I generally web browse and listen to mp3s, and thats it, and most PCs can handle that.
