Wait, so they're just going to have the core members form a new team, and help the rest of the team get jobs?  I don't see that big of a problem.

I'm also amused that people would think that Halo Wars is going to tank.  They're going to market this game like crazy, Halo sells like crazy, there's no way this game is going to bomb.

I'm not a fan of RTS on consoles either, but hell, if Halo can do to RTS what they did to console FPS games, then maybe this is the kind of breakthrough we need.  Don't hate until we get some impressions.

It's not going to tank.  It's just going to be really shitty.

That's sad to hear.  I still don't understand why you would kill off a studio before they have completed a project.  I mean, that just can't have a positive impact on the project.  As a "Halo" game, I'd imagine it's still important to Microsoft and they wouldn't want to tarnish the brand.  If the studio had produced poor quality games in the past or lost tons of money, I could see the reasoning, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Quote
Outside of the Halo stuff, you can expect more games from Rare, Mass Effect 2, Too Human 2, Crackdown 2 (hopefully).
Ha ha, I'm curious what it was that possessed you to put Too Human 2 in that small list.  I mean, do you REALLY believe that Silicon Knights could turn around and deliver a sequel in a year?!  Even if they could, does anyone REALLY want more Too Human?  :P  OK, I could believe the second part, but it's the idea that Silicon Knights could deliver a sequel in a year that made me chuckle.

I would love for Mass Effect 2 to become a reality, though.

I haven't even played Too Human, but I was scrounging for 360 exclusive games and thinking about what was plausable.  Too Human 2 shouldn't be that hard to do unless SK is willing to improve what seemed to be bad, and chances are they won't since Dyack is an ignorant prick.

Then again, I did kind of go against what I was trying to point out by putting Mass Effect on there which isn't 360 exclusive.

I would buy it, but you are correct about SK. As you mentioned in other threads, the game has progressed very little, if at all, over the course of 3 years and even then the game is a bit of a technical mess. This righfully calls into question the aptitude of SK's programmers and designers.

If it is successful, then Microsoft still.  Don't forget that Rare kept getting funds after Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Kameo, and PDZ.

Right, but not for Grabbed by the Ghoulies 2. And Rare is a Microsoft owned company, so they'd have to either ditch an enormous investment, or try to mine something valuable from the shitpile. Which, apparently, means "family friendly" titles. Unless Too Human puts up some very impressive sales numbers, there won't be a 2 and 3.

I think it's just your common developer-publisher relationship. Besides, doesn't SK have some game in the works for SEGA?

Okay, Microsoft just shut down Ensemble?

Seriously, fuck Microsoft.

- defective systems that Evilbore has a hardon for
- close down quality studios that made amazing PC games
- Rare

Seriously. Fuck Microsoft.
