There was also that fucking weird from nowhere episode of Creepshow which was literally Bob Ross vs Evil Dead  :doge

I didn't particularly like ED 2013 - it kinda felt like someone had made a movie based on a conversation they had with someone who watched the first one a few years back and were trying to recount the plot.

Gonna come in with a contrarian take. Travolta is better than Cage in Face Off.

Travolta did not get enough credit for that role and people didn't appreciate enough what a fun movie it was.

Mario movie was ok. Not much going on storywise, but it was fun as a spectacle. They really played it safe. Kids enjoyed it.

(Image removed from quote.)

Travolta nails Cage’s Castor mannerisms so well. Not dissing Cage. He’s great as Castor and Archer pretending to be Castor. He’s great in Broken Arrow, too. During Woo’s stint in Hollywood, Travolta understood how to act in Woo’s style the best.

Can't wait for Miyamoto to insist Link does not speak in the movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and do a $2 billion movie with a muted protagonist.

It all depends on Guardians of the Galaxy and more Miyamoto interviews. He's already been quite confident in stating that the goal is to overtake Disney and make Mario a bigger character than Mickey Mouse.
He also said that the critics not liking the movie probably made it more popular and people were more interested to see it because of it.

But he also says things like that he changed the script for the Japanese movie because the western script wouldn't work there so people wonder what changes he made or if its just a marketing ploy for the special Japanese screenings that have been announced in the US.

His perspective on the idea of licensing was also interesting. He considers himself and by extension Nintendo to be the 'talent agent' of their characters and everything has to be approved by Nintendo (him).
Unlike the classic form of licensing, where the creator loses their influence once they license their character or stories to another party.

Renfield was disappointing despite Nic Cage being his usual awesome hyperbolic self. It took two movies and fused them, but not like in a particularly interesting or competent way.

Dracula and Renfield and their weird relationship is great. I wanted to see these two interacting and butting heads, with Renfield trying to escape servitude after decades of mistreatment. There wasn't too much of this.

And then you've got this crappy crime drama with Renfield and lady cop doing the buddy routine to take down a bro-dude gangster and his mommy. And you can turn off your brain here with the blood sprays and super-cool murders as the good guys slaughter everyone and Dracula teams up with the criminals.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was good. Honestly James Gunn just really has that shit figured out by now. How nice is it to have a superhero trilogy where the characters grow and change and you have themes that are resolved at the end of the movie.
Though if you happened to dislike the first 2 this one won't change it

Watched Ant-Man: Quantumania and it was ok for direct to streaming I guess?

Kang was actually the most interesting Marvel villain I've seen in a while but the last hour of the movie is once again just a bunch of CG armies going to war. :doge

The book was phenomenal, not sure if i'd recommend reading it before the movie but I definitely recommend reading it at some point. There's no way the movie can cover everything that happened, even with a 3.5 hour runtime. I imagine a lot of Tom White's background will be cut, as well as what happens to him after the main events, which is probably enough for a movie on it's own.

The bits and pieces of the movie I've seen so far explain that capitalism is equal to stealing and the fact that Indy fought the Nazis doesn't get him a free pass from the perfect girl boss character because he killed indigenous people.

Holy crap, it was a 50% when I last looked. 12 reviews is still a fairly small sample size but i think it's pretty certain that it won't reach a good score

It looks awful in trailers. Never a good sign if they can't find 2 minutes of good footage out of an entire movie.

Watched Freaky which 100% guaranteed was called Freaky Friday the 13th internally, because thats literally what it is - fish out of water highschooler body swap X slasher, and mining every trope it can from each respective genre.

As with all bodyswap comedies, the main characters have a lot of fun aping each other, and Vince Vaughns teenage girl is pretty funny, same with Kathryn Newtons stone cold unstoppable killer, and the supporting cast are pretty good too.

If you dislike either the slasher genre or the bodyswap comedy, nothing here is going to persuade you otherwise, but a pretty competent blending of the two leaves you with a pretty entertaining post-modern horror comedy. After watching, I looked up the folks responsible, and the director of this also did Happy Death Day and the sequel, which check out as its the same entertaining high concept genre mash up.

Like, its no Scream, but a very solid watch.

Fast X: Somehow, despite the lack of anyone going into space with a car, this one manages to be the most over the top stupid movie yet in this franchise.  So many unintentionally hilarious moments with Vin and company being immortal superheroes as usual.  It's a really dumb movie that feels like it's now recycling plot points and action scenes at times.  Jason Momoa as the Fast version of The Joker was kinda fun, but the way they retconned Fast 5 to insert him into the story was awful.  That's a staple of this series though, as is bringing back "dead" characters.  The movie ends on a cliffhanger with
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Gal Gadot's Giselle popping back up.

. And if that wasn't enough, the mid credits scene teases

the return of Hobbes.  I thought The Rock was done with this franchise?

Watched Ant Man 3. Even my 10 year old was bored.

Kang is just not a really threatening villain. He's so overpowered that any "solution" these new Avengers come up with will have to be absurd cosmic McGuffin territory. His powers in this film weren't even consistent and let's not start talking about the fucking ants and why only they went through some weird time dilation effect.

Also, lol, homeless people still exist in a world of Pym particles, cosmic travel, iron man nano particle tech, and wakanda.

Watched it and I didn't think it was that bad, apart from the horrible Modok CG whenever they showed the actor's face.  But then I'm a sucker for all the multiverse-related stuff and goofy characters.  This was a pretty formulaic Marvel movie and didn't have the best action, but I kinda liked all the drama.

I really want them to hurry up and move on from all the Avengers, though.  They have so many other characters they can use and it's tiring getting what continue to be End Game epilogue films.

This store had Top Gun Maverick as a demo for a big ass TV. Stood there watching it for some time, transfixed. One by one, other guys showed up, watching in either the crossed arms or hands on waist pose. Silent. One guy did an air fist bump in sync with Hangman. One guy’s wife grabbed him and he walked away backwards. Think I discovered positive masculinity.

Ant-Man 3 was beyond awful. Worst MCU film. What is this script. Not only is the story terrible and pointless but the dialogue is filled with zingers like "You can always stop being a dick"  :-\

Kang was pathetic, instead of this hyping up Avengers Kang Dynasty, it just makes me want the MCU to move on from Kang because apparently he sucks. Which is too bad because he was good in Loki for 1ep.

Thor 4 was a bad movie, but it had redeeming bits like Bale's character, some funny jokes, nicely shot black & white moon sequence. Ant-Man 3 has no redeeming values. Easily the worst film in the MCU.

I think you need to revisit (or maybe not) some is the phase 1 and 2 stinkers before rating it the worst. Most soulless maybe, but nowhere near as bad as trash like Incredible Hulk, Thor 2 and Iron Man 3. Then you have Eternals, Captain Marvel, Age of Ultron, Dr Strange 2 and Black Panther 2 which all complete for worst movie as well.
