Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is in fact the best movie of the trilogy.

I jailbroke my iphone awhile back and there's an app on there that lets me stream movie torrents, so when I flew down to LA last week I watched Prince of Persia and MacGruber on the plane from my phone.  Prince of Persia was awful but not as bad as I was expecting.  MacGruber however was surprisingly hilarious.  That was one of the funniest movies I've seen in awhile.  Definitely want to check it out on Blu-Ray/DVD.

You can't really blame them.  It's an SNL movie based on a pretty awful skit and the trailers were terrible.  I was extremely hesitant to see it myself, but it was either that or Robin Hood.  :yuck :yuck :yuck

Yeah, it really has nothing to do with the skit (which I actually thought was funny now and then) and the trailers were pretty bad. It's basically a straight parody of every late '80s/early '90s action film. :lol

I can't wait for the Blu-ray, there were a ton of deleted scenes. I saw a few via the Internet and they're hysterical. Shame they were cut, but maybe the messed up the flow.

I saw MacGruber. I was kind of floored at how the humor was dull but the action was amazing. I thought it'd be the other way around.

Youth in Revolt

Started out awkward Michael Cera movie is awkward weak but gotta better as it went along and ended strong.  The movie works mainly because the script is unpredictable and takes risks, though you could say it apes Palahniuk's style a bit.  Still, worth watching overall.

Get Him to the Greek

So funny.  The movie has lulls of 5-10 mins with no laughs, but for at least 70% of the running time the movie is "on" and when it's on it's incredibly funny thanks to a great script & great comedic actors.  If you want to be lololol rolling in your chair laughing for 2 hours, go see it this weekend!

is Jonahs character actually the same guy in the film's universe?  I assumed from the trailers it wasn't meant to be the same but just play off your familiarity of his character in fsm.

No, he isn't. It's kind of lame that they used him as two different characters, but he did a really good job. I fear for him, though, because this role might get him typecast in future films.

One of the best of the non-Leone spaghetti westerns.  Also dig The Great Silence - watch that one if you haven't, yet.  It's about a mute gunslinger played by Jean-Louis Trintignant.  The soundtracks (Bacalov on Django, Morricone on The Great Silence) are amaaaaazing.

The movie is pretty clear about it taking place after FSM.

1. They talked a lot about Snow being clean for seven years and basically getting addicted to yoga (the dude we saw in FSM) before falling off the wagon.
2. He sees Sarah Marshall on that blind doctor show on the plane and mentions how he previously dated her.

It's not a bad movie. Malkovich puts in a performance that is almost a get-out-of-jail-free card for the whole movie.

The Lovely Bones

This was bad :\  I thought the first 30 mins were good and tense, but then it's like ALMOST NOTHING HAPPENS THE ENTIRE MOVIE.  The girl's post-death story is like...what?  I get that it's supposed to be this really interesting movie about dealing with one's death and moving on, but it was just handled really badly.  The movie felt off and just didn't work.  The pieces of something good were there, but a good film did not come out of it.  Also the end was depressing and unsatisfying.  Very disappointing.  Maybe I would have liked it more if I was a 13 year old girl struggling with the concept of death and the afterlife.

I liked it a lot.  Whether you like or hate the movie depends on whether you find Stefan as a likable identifiable guy or if he irritates the shit out of you.  I'm the former, but most people find him the latter.

I love The Science of Sleep and I'm emotionally mature almost to a fault. I love the way it deals with miscommunication because of public expectations and the common yet dishonest way we initiate in the dating world. The main characters's hang ups and his real emotions start to collide and provide the crazy dream world, but the crazy dream world eventually redeems him.

I saw Moon last night, and really liked it. Gave me lots of "2001" vibes. Had some pretty sad moments and the story was interesting.

Also finally saw 500 Days Of Summer. During the first 15 min or so, I was worried it would turn into a Juno wannabe-indie film where they namedrop all these obscure 80's and 90's bands (i.e. The Smiths and Bell and Sebastian references), but luckily it never went down that path. Was a more unique and interesting look at relationships than is typical for Hollywood. Not my favorite movie but was enjoyable and had some funny moments.

Bebpo - yeah I thought Lovely Bones sucked. Thought it felt extremely unrealistic, the ending was unsatisfying, and the actual story jumped around way too much and had so many plot holes. And oh yeah was the Susan Sarandon montage really necessary?

Splice

 :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Seriously, it was funnier than Get Him to the Greek.  It was cliche bad with moments where you thought they weren't going to go there and then they did!  And then it's one of those movies where it never ends.  It's filled with those "BUT WAIT!" moments from the writers where you just facepalm.  Absolutely hilarious.  Go see it!

Get Him to the Greek

Maybe I was just drained after Splice but I didn't find it crazily hilarious.  I LOVED FSM.  And I loved the characters.  I thought it was amusing and I laughed out loud at a few parts but it mostly a smile because it's funny movie, not LOL to me.  I still enjoyed it a lot.

North By Northwest
Per the recommendations of some boritos and a few of my irl friends. Really great movie. I love Cary Grant in it. I didn't understand the James Bond comparisons until near the end when it becomes REALLY 007-esque, and that was fun to watch. The scene with the plane in the desert finally made me remember where I had heard of this movie, since I've seen that scene spoofed at least a dozen times.

This was my first Hitchcock film and I'm very impressed. Not sure which one to go to from here, but I'm glad North By Northwest was my introduction.

I'd say it's because it's a pretty hard movie to get into if you're not fully into his works.  It's slow and long and if you go in looking for the wrong type of movie it will not click.
