I learned about the terrible life of a trucker from Dear Mr. Henshaw

Don't truckers make pretty good money?  Like $80,000 a year?
I dealt with a lot of truckers at Ford; they all told me the salaries have been going down. Some of the contract drivers made only $17 an hour. Most of the outside drivers were south Asian (Canada's brown people), Somalian, or Polish immigrants who would work for substantially less.

Ill side with both Demi and Smooth and say that a degree isnt everything, but a degree does help. I dont have a fancy university degree, but I make good money. I think enough drive and sincere interest can reduce the relevance of even a fancy uni degree. If anything I experience real world experience over beer bong parties and cramming for finals.

You're a smart dude so the lack of a degree didn't hurt you.  But most people who don't go to college are just gonna work at shitty jobs the rest of their lives.  It's not even that hard to get a college degree.  A state university curriculum is barely harder than high school.  I think going to college is just the safer route for most people.

That sucks.  Truckers should be paid well.  I don't know what America would be like without truckers.

California used to be really good with helping out students who can't afford college.  But I heard it's much worse nowadays.

With high fuel prices and Ford's constant demands for lower trucking rates, many carriers cut corners. The two most obvious ways they did this was by not properly maintaining their trucks and trailers (many of the trucks had poor brakes; the trailers were full of holes, broken door latches, weak supports, missing landing gear, etc.), and by using foreign drivers who wouldn't complain about low pay and long hours.

The moral of the story is that I should have stayed with my original profession - male prostitute and meth dealer.

Now THIS is a profession with a future!

Willco, there is a dumpster behind my apartment building that somebody needs to get fucked in.  It's been roadkilly on the road outside my place the past few days, so I'll make sure that the fucking is very PETA unfriendly.

Sorry to hear about you getting the shaft.

Does this mean we get to hear tales of Las Vegas debauchery, or are you not willing to burn bridges yet? ;)

Wilco should have given out massive discounts to everyone in his last few hours and then go out in a blaze of glory.

LP is a big deal in GameStop. The DM could fucking suck your cock because he loves you so much but if LP hates you, see ya.

GameStop could say that they are changing, but that's bullshit. They are the same fucking corporation they were before EB or before anything. They want money so much that if they think they are losing even five fucking dollars, they will fire people like they lost a million.

Seriously, anyone I actually had fun working with as manager in the London store got fired or chose to quit instead of getting fired. Only one of them is still a manager, and god knows why.

However, as much as I bitch, it's still the only guaranteed seasonal job I can get, and I've been offered ASM and even store manager positions before at GameStop, so I will continue to work there.

ppssssssss retail ain't bad.

work for a low budget store in the mall where the owners don't give a fuck about what you do.

best job I ever had. I was at the register watching movies and downloading shit off Napster. Then it's the nice view you see when it's a teen girls clothing store directly across from you. Not that trashy teen store that sold hooker outfits. The classy store where 18-21 girls shop. The traffic that passes you is also entertaining. I once had this chick I knew that worked in the mall too run up to me behind the register and show me her ummm lack of undergarments.

ahhhh

I would give up the extra $20 an hour I make at this desk to go back there  :-\

Honestly, Willco, you better be damn more pissed now considering you got fired for five bucks in a time of economic crisis.
