Does anyone know if the week one astronaut outfit is a PS store download, or if I have to download that in game? I want to hold off on this one a bit so I can play some freaking Midnight Club...

Jinfash the user created video you shown has almost sold me on the game.

It is the first time I've seen a level where it isn't just go right right right right.

I didn't realize LBP custom level creations could get that complex.  Very impressive.

I still really want to create my Dante's Inferno level... but I don't think I have the creativity to do such a thing.
The Meerkat level in Africa gives me a lot of inspiration for an underground level. I just need to get more stuff like fire, switches, etc learned before I can even start.

I got the game today. It has met but not exceededmy expectations. To be fair I have only played the included king and savanah levels.

It's very fun. Controls and floatiness remind me a bit of Lego star wars.

The single player levels are amazing.  My only problem with the game so far is that almost every level has items that require two people, but the servers aren't up yet so no online is up yet, so I'm stuck doing all I can do until it's up.  It also gets a bit difficult, and I don't even think I'm close to being finished.

online gaming :bow2

As much as I do enjoy gaming with actual people, it isn't so simple anymore.  I welcome the future in which I don't need to drive 20-30 minutes to a friends house to do the same task I could do on my comfy couch and nice TV.  At least when I was in dorm rooms two years ago I could play games with my roommate, neighbors, or other friends on campus.

btw, servers are apparently going up tomorrow.

and I'm pretty sure that I heard the song that caused all the controversy in the game, only without the lyrics.

This is one of the few games where I have a few friends who all own PS3s and are getting this. One of which is in a Socom clan who's all getting it as well.

So I'll have plenty of friends I know to play online with.

I hate being a hater but I went to a friends house to play this yesterday and I was bored after 20 minutes. You just swing around and collect stickers and doll accessories. What is the appeal of this game?

I will admit the music as awesome and the game was seeping with creativity.

I barely even touched the creator since I'm doing the story levels.  They make me both excited and a bit weary of the community ones.  If it does get to a point where there is a constant stream of levels on par if not better than the MM levels, then I probably won't get bored of this game for a long time.

And fistfulofmetal, I added you to PSN.

well, it isn't considering it was carried over from the Beta where you couldn't lock levels.  The creator that level probably didn't sign on to get access to his beta levels yet.

This is an interesting game though I must question its depth

My question is, can I make everything that I see in the MM levels via the editor? Like animated alligators and shit

Also, can I import textures from something other than a PS Eye? Because I am NOT making shitty webcam textures

No to the first question, but it is incredibly close.  The MM levels have custom made objects.  The only way they really differ is cosmetically, so function wise anything will work.

And the last two levels of this game are brutal.

Like I said, it's incredibly close and purely cosmetic.  It's like that Azure blade from that guy's level, he didn't make that sword, it was the sword from a later level with lights strapped on.

Given the difficulty that Sony has had implementing the online parts of MGS4 and LBP, its 2 biggest exclusives, just imagine when HOME launches. Apparently Sony didn't take notice of Live's shittiness over the holidays last year

To be fair, MGS4s online mishaps were due to Konami and their whole 'Konami ID' bullshit they forced.  LBP was also a bad case considering how many people bought the game earlier before the servers went up.  SOCOM was completely their fault and just a complete and utter disaster.

I dunno, it's hard not to blame them for LBP.  At the time the servers went live, most of the people that had the game were those that already had preorders, and Sony or Media Molecule should have known what they needed in place to cover those.  They also should have been able to extrapolate what resources they would need by the physical amount of copies they shipped, especially considering the game's servers are region-specific.  This is a pretty sizable flopza on Sony's part and I hope it's cleared up by today, or else I will upgrade the flopza to epic flopza.

Cool, so the "A problem occured when attempting to connect to the LittleBigPlanet servers" is normal".  For a second I thought I got screwed again for having a JPN PS3 and it was trying to connect to Japan or something and failing.

So ummm, I haven't followed this game at all.  Didn't play the beta, haven't read any of the threads, didn't follow it beyond seeing the first or second video at E3 showing a level.  Now I stuck it in and tried it for the first time and wow, this is awesome.  Like really polished and the gameplay of trying to get mad combos is gripping me to my seat.  I honestly thought this was going to be a forgettable game I'd play over a weekend and never touch again, but goddamn this feels like something epic.  Like the first time playing SoTC or something.

Neither the gameplay nor the graphics of the beta was particularly impressive so I didn't even pick it up.

If you weren't a fan of the core gameplay and all that from the beta, then you probably wouldn't be a fan of the final game.  The biggest difference gameplay wise is that getting the jetpack off is now circle instead of shaking the controller.  General jumping and stuff is also a bit better, but it's not so far changed that it would make you like it after not enjoying the beta.

There aren't many bugs, but the ones that are the are fucking annoying.
Every now and then when you unstick something for whatever reason, it'll unstick EVERYTHING IN YOUR LEVEL. Then when you unpause time your entire level will fall apart. Z
So then you rewind time, but WHOOPS now it's taking upwards of 30 seconds to do it.

Great.

I'm willing to understand the server issues. I went to school for that kind of stuff, and I know first hand how it feels to have a server go down for no apparent reason. When it comes to that, shit is unpredictable so I'm not too biffed about it.

Can us American players play with you Japanese guys or is there a region based thing?

And yeah, the single player levels are really good.  That was what I was most skeptical about, but they are genuinely great levels.  The only bad part is that they make the user created ones look like shit.

So wait, the user levels are not region locked after all?  I thought I read they were going to be but I saw a bunch of JPN levels from the beta floating around and played them.

Played some 4 player online today.  It was...chaotic.  But fun.  Saw a lot of screen tearing on one level though >_<

Still really enjoying it.

The costume prices announced for the US are kindy rapey.
$1 a costume for generics, $2 a costume for recognizable characters.

Meanwhile Japan gets the Ape Escape outfit free.

Oh and the US isn't getting the Halloween outfit until AFTER Halloween even though Japan has it right now.   ::)

When the servers went back up I played some more online levels and SP.  I think the game is more of a party game than anything.  Especially since you need 2+ players to get 100% on most levels.  Playing with other people is a blast.  Playing by yourself is generally pretty good in the disc levels, ok to meh in most user levels.

I'm fine with the core mechanics, my only tech complaint is really the blur is really overdone.  It's hard to see what's going on sometimes in motion.  Probably the worst use of blur in a game.  Which is too bad because when there's just that little bit of blur when the camera is close up after you beat a level the blur makes it look like CG.  It's just during sections with a lot going on it hurts the eyes.  Maybe they can patch in a blur bar in the options?

Oh and I played some user level (the batman one) that almost killed my PS3.  DON'T LOAD YOUR LEVELS WITH TOO MUCH STUFF.  It really screws up your jumps when the PS3 goes CLUNK and stutters when you are trying to make tight jumps.
