Cleared two Naxx wings tonight (25 man): arachnid and plague. Plus we cleared three bosses in the construct wing. This was the first time we beat Gluth. Honestly I don't think we would have wiped 3 times if they let me be the main kiter.

We only wiped on Patchwerk once, which rocked. Sadly, no tank drops for the night. Hopefully I'll have more luck on Saturday when we continue

Spent 6 hours in Naxx last night, didn't drop a single boss. Last thursday we cleared two wings (spider/plague) and downed 3 of the construct bosses. Last night we spent like 40min practicing on Razuvious. Basically the priests were getting comfortable with MC while the tanks were getting comfortable with holding the other understudies and being ready to taunt ones that lost MC. Tanks had it down. But one of the priests couldn't get a hold of the MC

So after wasting like 2 hours getting nowhere, the raid leader finally decided we should be back and do Thaddius. And guess what, people couldn't get that fight down. We did very well with the two mobs that have to be killed at the same time but folks weren't running the correct say on Thaddius. I bet we could have downed him if we spent as much time on him as we did on Raz

i finally made 80

probably gonna respec holy. several forums claim shadow priests are viable dps/utility in the end game raid scene, but i dunno. i'd like to stay shadow spec, but not if it makes my character useless.

Well, I'm done raiding. My guild fell apart due to stupid nerd drama, but I don't really care. I was already looking for an excuse to stop. The only reason I was still showing up for raids is because I felt obligated having taken a shitload of gear. Clearing all the live content was fun for maybe three weeks, then I fell right back into the mindset of, "this shit is boring, why am I willingly sacrificing 5 hours a week for this?" What's important is that I no longer have to respec twice a week. Arena has been the only appealing activity to me since it was introduced in BC. Hopefully I can make the Gladiator threshold before 3.1 hits.

After messing around with WOW for a couple of hours, I can already see why people get hooked on it. It's so fun just to run around and the graphics are much better than what I expected.

I'd appreciate some help before I continue playing.

1) How do I get my character from Booty Bay to Northrend?

2) Is it possible to set a waypoint for quests? How could I tell where to go next in order to fulfill the quest requirements?

3) How do I summon my mount?

Easiest way to get to Northrend from vanilla WoW is to take the boat at Stormwind. Find a flight master (there's one in Booty Bay) and fly to Stormwind, then go to the port and take the boat that's to the far right of the dock.

Download Quest Helper. It'll tell you where to go/what to collect for quests:

For your mount, it should be in one of your bags. Right click on it to summon it. Or go to your Character Info button (at the bottom of the screen, the button with your character's pic on it), go to the "pets" tab, then summon your mount

The problem is that bosses hit really hard these days and we have given warriors a lot of ways to make their attacks cheaper. As a result, warriors are often flooded with rage while tanking anything remotely dangerous. You can literally HS every single white hit.

We can't just cut the rage per damage number without a lot of testing, because that would affect not only tanks in low-rage situations (like tanking a heroic with great gear) but it will also affect dps warriors, especially in PvP. The other approach is to let HS be a toggle or something else that can bleed off rage without requiring the player to hit the button virtually every 1.6 sec (or faster).

Yet another approach is to get rid of the on-next-swing concept. Make HS something you do when you have lots of rage and make Devastate something you do when you don't have as much. Again, we'd need to make sure that the tank could do something if they felt aggro slipping away.

Even longer term we need to think about whether we're even happy with this model of tank takes damage and converts it into threat or not.

I like the idea of HS being toggled, at least for fights that grant near endless supplies of rage (raid shit). I have HS mapped to the ` button, so I'm able to spam it while doing other shit. It's not hard, just tedious

Was browsing the old WoW thread and saw

Speaking of noob stuff, had a painful Naxx run. The guild I do the 25 man with actually cleared most of it on thursday; I missed most of it since I had to go with my guild for the 10 man. Tonight we started on the 4 Horsemen...which was very easy. I was kinda disappointed because I had read that it was a tough fight. After that went went to the Construct wing and took out Gluth. A few weeks ago he was giving us problems but now that fight is a piece of cake. Kiting with the hunters is pretty damn fun

After that we headed to Thaddius, and proceeded to wipe for hours. The fight shouldn't be hard - just go clockwise dammit, LEFT. Then people started missing the jump, especially our MT who might have had some latency problems or something because he'd try the jump, miss, run all the way back to the platform, jump and miss again, rinse/repeat. He's a great player too so I dunno what was happening. I didn't miss the jump once, nor did I fuck up the clockwise rotation. By the end it seemed like people had the rotation down...but lots of people were missing the jump, then coming back with a charge and killing multiple people

I'm hoping this winds up like our initial Gluth problems. It better because we can't do the Frostwyrm Lair till we down Thaddius.

Recently changed my rotation after reading up on threat maximization. I haven't really had problems holding aggro in LK but this new rotation increased my dps as well - I no longer spam heroic strike like a mad man, unless I feel the need to (raid bosses).

Today I put a few expertise gems in my armor, just to see their effect on my threat/dps. I helped a buddy's group down Loken in HoL and my threat was pretty damn high - surpassed 6000 a few times. My dps also increased (I did 1500 during the fight). My expertise is now at 50, and I'm going to start adding strength gems once I get some new armor.

I can't tell you much about warriors, except you'll probably hate Ele Shamans in PVP. Prot pallies may become more common due to pvp viability and I might level mine. You'll see more Destro locks post patch. Their crits are crazy mean now.

The prot spec changes that I've read about seem pretty small. Lowered CDs for last stand and shield wall will be beneficial of course. I heard something about them adding rage whenever you block/parry but I don't know if that's been confirmed

First impressions:

-I gemmed up the dps gear I had been collecting (spiked titansteel set and heroism rewards), made my titansteel destroyer, bought that 2H Ebon Blade sword, and then engaged some mobs rdy to rock...then realized my 2H skills were below 100. So yea, I'm going to need to hang out in some lower lv instances and increase my weapon skills

-New VoA boss is going to make pugging that place less ideal than it once was. I've beaten Archavon with all dps below 1500, with some folks still in pvp gear. The new boss requires far more strategy and I hope to fucking god it's not full of pvp drops; Archavon is so easy I can accept the fact that he's going to drop a bunch of pvp shit 90% of the time, with the other 10% being a tier drop for whatever class we don't have in the group (usually shaman stuff). Some pretty good guilds failed at downing him yesterday, so I can't feel too bad. Honestly he's not that hard, the group just has to be on the ball. Get all the adds' health to 50%, focus on boss until an add enrages, then nuke it. When it respawns, get it down to 50% and switch back to boss

Did Flame Leviathan on heroic last night and had a blast. Only gripe I have is with the controls; it's kinda hard to accurately shoot air targets in the first phase of the fight, unless they're far away. But we had so many tanks that our crossfire made the air mobs rather easy; I'm sure it'll be more of a challenge on 10 man.

We wiped 5 times but I never felt like the encounter was impossible; in fact we got him down to 10% or lower on 3 of those tries. The other 2 wipes were due to distinguished mentally-challenged fellows pulling the boss too early. Usually when you wipe 5 times on a boss people begin to get tired, annoyed, have to leave due to grandma knocking at the door, suddenly remember they have a dentist appointment, etc. This fight is pretty fun though, especially the first phase.

Which caused some drama. A DK rolled the highest, I came in second. No one knew who the DK was, and as the group leader started checking him out he caught him switching gear/spec from dps to tank. Now, his dps gear was all epiced out, including Jawbone. His tanking gear consisted of rep rewards (not even exalted ones) and once again, Jawbone. It was pretty damn clear he was rolling on off spec shit, plus since when do DKs use 1Hs for tanking? So they gave me the sword; btw I do Naxx 25 with them all the time, and last weekend I passed on

I haven't been able to get in on Ulduar stuff yet. I keep being popped in as a replacement after they've wiped a gajillion times already on some boss. Had XT to like .2% on a wipe. After that they called it due to being tired and unhappy with everyone's dps, which sucked, because that was the closest they had got and it was only my third attempt, but like their 10th.

Hm, what do you guys think. My guild is far from hardcore or amazing. Many folks aren't geared yet and don't seem to have the drive to get geared, and we struggle with 10 man Naxx; although I was hella proud that we breezed through the construct quarter earlier in the week. Ulduar is basically out of the question for us, so I did some of it with a bigger guild. Everything I've heard from fellow guilds suggests people are getting owned in there, even the ones that are progressing.

Every game has hardcore players who complain about the lack of difficulty. Blizzard could introduce the most hardcore shit possible and still have full-time WoW raiders complete the content within weeks.

I was coming off lots of success with regular instances, my head was inflated, etc. Then I got my ass kicked in some heroics and some of my dps buddies stopped asking me to tank for them lol. I remember focusing too much on stamina when I first started heroics. So I'd have a ton of health but would take a shit ton of damage due to meh defense rating/mitigation. In short I rushed into heroics too fast and struggled.

Minimum def rating for heroics is 535. With the early lv80 tank gear your def rating is going to get pretty high, which will increase your dodge/parry as well. Definitely try to get your dodge up. Building up block is also pretty easy and will help you on trash mobs. Parry...eh. Many people say it's not worth it. I wouldn't use parry gems, but having a nice parry % isn't a bad idea because obviously it has an impact on how many times you get Revenge off.

In terms of entry heroics, Utgarde Keep comes to mind first. Don't listen to people who want you to jump into VH right away; it can overwhelm you when you're undergeared.

Shield block rating doesn't help with raid bosses, but it's good for trash imo. Shield block increases the damage your Shield Slam does tho, which means more threat.

Stamina is uber important, you need lots of health. Those blue +24 stam gems are your friend. But like I said, health won't matter if you're defense is shitty

Getting the 4 titansteel items+armor plated combat shotgun is really essential. After that there are some good quest items, plus some of the better reg instance gear. But yea, it can be a pain. Especially when you're sitting around thinking fuuck, I dominated regular instances, now I fee like a noob again

And speaking of feeling like a noob again, I did Ulduar tonight. Well tried. We started on Ignis. First the trash owned us multiple times. Especially those Magma Ragers and there stupid tornado attack. I felt I was pretty well prepared for the actual boss fight thanks to tankspot but jeez, I made so many stupid mistakes. We didn't have a DK or druid to trap the adds in the fire, so I kited them in. That took a few tries to get used to. The thing that really fucked me up was the aggro wipe after the golems become molten. Often the flame jet attack would shoot us into the sky, by then the add was running towards healers. But often that wasn't the case and I still couldn't keep them in check. By the end I had a better handle on it luckily, but ultimately it left a bad taste in my mouth

My guild entered Ulduar for the first time tonight; in typical fashion it was scheduled for 11pm but we didn't start until like 1am. We took down Flame Leviathan after 3 tries, I was impressed. People weren't listening (Demos constantly being too close to the boss, not launching players soon enough, etc), plus we had some problems with a pug dude. We were missing a dps and had to pick up someone, and our GM wound up getting some Mexican dude who could barely speak English. Took forever to get this guy to download and use vent, then listen to our GM who speaks spanish. But we did it

Dunno much about healers, but since it's a trinket off the first Ulduar boss I'm sure there are plenty of better ones. The mana regen seems good, I dunno; I mean, spirit has been nerfed right

It's not heroic, it's 10 man. How does it compare to 25 man Naxx trinkets?

Malek: if that's the correct math than I guess so. I don't think I play too much, the game hasn't ruined my schoolwork or anything like that. It's spring semester so I get to go all out. I tend to play all night though regardless, unless I have very important shit to do the next morning (rare since I schedule classes for the afternoon)

Ah misread that, my bad. Seems like he's having lots of success, probably has a good guild. Mine is more of a casual raiding type thing, that puts having a "family environment" over killin shit. I really like the people in the guild but I wish we had more serious players. Not saying we need hardcore obsessive types, just people who want to do stuff, and can make it to raids on time at least twice a week.

They don't recruit good players, instead our GM and his fiance invite bad players (" i'm lv80 and don't have any professions lol"). We have about 3 tanks that are active players, lots of dps (but not enough to have two raid groups), and 3 healers - only one of whom is very good. The only reason I'm geared is because I have friends in raid guilds who let me do heroic raids with them.
