I may be SOL as of this morning. The past week there have been a few times when the game freezes mid-loading, and the Xbox message sound chimes, but does not display. Other times it does display and says "Disk is unreadable." As of this morning, it generates that message whenever I try to launch from the Dashboard.
The disc is pristine. The problem may be the drive, but every other game I have loads just fine. I wonder if the disc has some sort of odd compression, or if it's dual-layered and the other games I'm trying (Rock Band 2, Bully, Dead Space) may only be single-layered.
It may just be another in a long list of buggy issues with the game; the HUD gets elements "frozen" into it, such as this morning it would not let go of the more information pane along the top of the screen for focusing on individual NPCs. This meant that, instead of pulling my gun out and shooting, I could only get more information about the last NPC I'd focused on.
Another problem was that the HUD elements are apparently part of the save data, as the Westridge shooting range's "target: 15, (something): 1" stayed on my HUD for a few play sessions until I went back to it and did the range again.
Is buggy software a British thing, or is it just Sir Molyneux's fyne efforts?
