I'm running it at 1280x768 with all medium settings on an AMD Turion X2 64, 4GB RAM, ATi 3200 IGP (shared, bitches!) pretty smoothly. Source engine is powered by angels!

Whether a team makes it to the end of the level seems to depend solely on the number of tank encounters in that level.

try to light them on fire first off

if not I suggest, assuming you have near full health, running away while shooting at it, also helps if the tank is focusing on just one guy and the rest of the team is blasting away at it.

if you dont have full health then the tank is faster then you and you should pray you have an auto shotty and try circle strafing maybe?

anyway i learned in versus when playing as the tank you should always hit one guy down, then focus on getting the next guy down otherwise you get raped from four directions. also rock throwing is good against runners

While were on the topic of headsets. Do you have any suggestion's on any? I was looking to use my bluetooth setup, but steam doesnt support chat via bluetooth. So now i'm stuck buying a analog headset. And dont know which to get.

Played as a Tank, knocked a car down an alleyway and incapacitated three distinguished surviving fellows at once.

Did 7558 damage as a Tank total in that one life.

i was just pissed at that guy last night for having the nerve to bitch at me for doing what i did (which was the right thing to do) after he'd been shooting me in the back the whole level

also, he didn't even know how to heal himself with a health pack, i had to explain it to him

no, i just play online games to have fun, and i'm not one of those guys who gets mad and starts cursing everyone when things don't go right

everyone wants to play advanced or expert, but i am perfectly happy playing normal so that everyone can have fun and finish the level (easy with 4 people is a little too easy, unless someone who's never played shooters before is on the team)

I think I might order that mic sometime. I've just been plugging only the microphone from my old broken pair of headphones and putting it in front of me beside my keyboard. It'd be so much nicer if I could just clip that microphone you linked to my shirt collar or something. Do you have it?

Schweet! Can you clip it onto your shirt collar? I read a user review claiming they couldn't clip it onto their headset cord or their shirt collar. Every other review talks about how it works great when it's clipped onto their headset cord though, so maybe that guy was just a moron.

Friendly fire really can get terribly frustrating. It's not that hart to avoid, though.

If you are in front, duck when you shoot. Just do it every time. If you can't see someone in front of you, assume YOU are the point man, and duck when you shoot.

Stick to walls. It's much easier to slide accidentally into someone's cross hair when you're in the middle of a hallway.

If you are not in front, don't be so Goddamn eager to be. Plenty of FF is totally the fault of the person who gets hit. If someone is in front of you plugging away, don't run ahead of them.

Finally, you do have to, at a point, just trust that your teammates know what they're doing. If you see a zombie rushing a survivor, your first instinct is to blast it, but in a lot of cases, that's going to result in FF. So just call it out.

The mic doesn't really have a clip, per se. There is no coil or other mechanical device that can be used to attach it to things via tension. Rather, it has two rigid pieces of plastic that you can kind of wedge shit into, and then the tightness of that wedging holds the mic in place.

User review:

The mic sticks fine on my headphone wire, which is a normal, non-corkscrew wire.

The mic, just now, stuck very snugly to one of the string things that comes out of the hood of a hoody sweatshirt.

And finally, just for you, I went and put on a collared shirt. The mic attached snugly to the portion of the collar where the seams are the thickest. The rest of the possible attachment points (like where the shirt buttons up) were too thin.

edit: If your headphones have an exceptionally thin cord, I could see the mic not staying in place. But I don't think even the cheapest pair of real cans would have a cord that thin.

Awesome! I think I'll order it off of Amazon tomorrow night or sometime this week, then. I suppose I could find SOMETHING to attach it to. Lately I've just been playing games with some Logitech PC speakers that I bought instead of using headphones, so I was just wanting something to compliment them. Those stand-up microphones would work pretty well but I'd rather get something that I could use with a pair of headphones if the need ever came about.

it's amazing how the AI tells you what's going on so you don't even really need voice chat except just to BS if you want to

I was getting pretty low framerate earlier until i switched off vsync, that helped a lot

rec settings sometimes aren't optimal

v-sync isnt essential really anyway. The AI was better our game than the last game I had with prole- the AI ran off after a witch that was running while I died and prole was drug off by a smoker and its like haha oh AI.

This time the AI just slammed doors in my face haha

i noticed that the AI never uses pipe bombs or molotovs, but they are good about healing you even if they are low on health themselves

they will set off a car alarm or alert a witch in a flat second, tho

Yes, trying to get through the campaign levels on expert without a full human team is rough. Never fails that the AI bothers the witch or sets the car alarm off.

I think if I ever buy this, it'll be a PC version, and on Steam. This game's 360 community is going to be a wasteland a year from now.

The Versus mode thing is HUGE.

Soooooo many expert servers and neither party makes it more than 3 mins so it's just a dash to outrun the other guys. Then again you continually get to play both sides so it can be a plus as well. But probably better this way.

versus expert was incredibly too brutal in my limited time with it

i think the main problem was with the matchmaking system, you could basically quick join an expert versus server without even knowing it and that's why it was fixed. you could see the difficulty in the server browser but yeah, not everyone knows of that

i wouldnt mind it as an option though

also realllllllly hoping the sdk comes out soon, I want more awesome levels to play.
Im thinking of putting some serious time into making my own campaign actually, shit as my hl:dm map attempts were, I have a basic knowledge of how hammer works

Yeah, once user-levels come out the game will be even more amazing. It's not even like a ton of people need to get the level. If you're just playing with 3 friends, you just have all 4 people download any level and you'll have a good time.

I just hope people stick to good level design in terms of placing the safe houses. I can see people making levels too short and thus too easy, and making levels that go on forever and are near unbeatable.

I still haven't gotten any achievements for finishing an episode even though I've played through them all by jumping in and out of games. So I need to sit down and beat them from the start!

Yeah stupid XBL not allowing steam service. Cross play would have be great for this and Team Fortress 2 and their really is no other reason besides steam that this couldn't have happened. Hell i'd pay a few bucks more a year for that ability.
