Improperly marked road construction forced me to stop behind a car on railroad tracks for about 2 seconds, BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO DRIVE INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. There were some cops waiting there to entrap people, and they gave me a ticket. I got the ticket today, it's for $366.00. THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX DOLLARS. Plus it's a moving violation, so my insurance is going to skyrocket.

I got this ticket on a road I never normally take, but I was going to get a birthday present for a girl I was going out with at the time - a present she later made me return when she decided suddenly one day she never wanted to speak to me again. At least I kept the receipt for that shit.

Along with my car repairs and fridge repairs, that's $1000 I'm out over the past two weeks for no goddamned reason whatsoever.

I should mention that while the cops were writing me a ticket, the construction company went and put a worker with a stop sign on the other side of the railroad tracks to keep people from being entrapped. When I complained about this to the cops, they said it didn't have anything to do with them.

Oh yeah, I withdrew from school some time in the middle of August, like the 18th or something. My school contacted my student loan lenders on Oct. 29th to tell then I was no longer enrolled so that the lenders would stop deferment.

What my school told them, however was that I was out of school starting May 9th. I have grad-plus loans that come due immediately after I leave school. So yesterday I found out that I am 6 months overdue on payments for that loan and have been reported to the credit monitoring agencies (woooooo, there goes my excellent credit rating) and my Stafford loans that I thought would be in a grace period until February are coming due now.

Online traffic schools fucking suck too. At the end of each section I am quizzed over the material; one of the sections contained a story about how "Jane" got pulled over for reckless driving and was told by the officer that she needed to take a sobriety test. Anyway, "Jane" said "I'm sorry officer but I have to refuse" and he arrested her. In the quiz it asked why the officer arrested her -- I answered "Because she refused to take the sobriety test" and it was marked incorrect; apparently the correct answer was that she failed the sobriety test. And because I got ONE question wrong (right) on the quiz, I had to redo the entire fucking section except this time it has new material and two fucking long-ass (30 min) videos on true stories about people dying in car wrecks. And since my connection here is so fucking slow the videos take more like an hour each.

Whoo, thank fuck the damage has been lessened. This is a pretty strong argument against outsourcing shit to fly-by-night firms that don't have a stake in what they're doing.

Pretty sure you could sue for mental distress damages if you felt like pushing it. Wouldn't be too hard to paint a picture of how screwed you'd have been if you'd had to pay all of that right now, would it?

quite the saga , i'll do it bullet points

- i moved home from my small place to a bigger place back in 2001
- at round about the same time, i got a friend a job at my firm, i introduced him to the TK office, but he was interviewed for a LN job which he took
- this entitles you to a $5000 bonus
- the company withheld payment saying that as he wasn't hired in TK then it didn't count, i had to get the head of IT involved
- in the mail after they said they'd pay, they were all "well, the firm cannot pay the security deposit etc on your new house, so you have to pay upfront" in what seemed like a blatant revenge attack! lol
- so i got the $5000, but i then had to cough up $12000 followed by $5000 a week after (after i'd been paid - i TOTALLY forgot about this payment, this takes the total down to $23k!!!)
- from my bank records, i can see i had to clean myself out to pay the above, i had $10 in the bank
- i foolishly paid cash (this is so long ago, i struggled to recall the fine details - we are talking 7 years ago and i never though it would be an issue)
- when i moved out of my home, i expected to get a part of the security deposit back (some portion of $6000)
- however, the housing firm instead sent me a bill for $4000
- so - at this point, they had no record of my $12000+5000 payment, i was being asked to pay the $4000 for the damages and i was losing out on the $2000 i should have got back. So quite a big loss!
- asked various departments if they had a record of my payments : "nope nothing"
- had to get bank statements, but as i'd paid cash, proves nothing
- checked mail archive, all mails from 2001 period gone - needs back up from tape, which would take weeks (deadline for payment of $4000 is a week or so)
- had one final punt in the dark - re-emailed Accounts Payable and asked them to recheck again for any payments
- HUZZAH, $12000+$5000 payment found
- now i'm actually quite happy - i have in email form several ASSERTIVE STATEMENTS saying i had not paid these two payments, and in fact all money owed EXCEPT the $6000 security deposit had been recovered from my salary over the 4 months after i moved in.
- so, if i've got this right (and i will be pushing this down their throats) by THEIR math/mails, they made me pay $17000 for absolutely nothing (well,  i effectively double paid for the entire deal).
- end result should be, they give me $15000, i pay the $4000 - i end up with $11000

Albeit i completely forgot about the $5000 extra payment, i still get the feeling i was on the verge of getting very badly dicked.

But this is FAR from over yet, but as long as AP have the documents proving i paid those figures to the housing department, i should be in the clear.
Very stressful couple of weeks.

So I get my traffic school letter that says "YOU MUST REGISTER WITHIN 5 DAYS OF RECEIVING THIS LETTER[or you will die]" and so I waste 15 mins filling out all the shit for online registration and guess what?  They DON'T LIST ANY CLASSES AFTER DEC 31st, 2008 and I need to take the class in January.

So now I get to waste another 30 mins dealing with them on the phone tomorrow just to register.

Oh yeah, and 7-fucking-am to 4:30pm meaning I have to get up at 6am and spend a whole Saturday at this crap instead of enjoying a day of not wanting to shoot myself in the head.

And they wonder why when they ask for money everyone gives cops the middle finger.  Minor traffic tickets & traffic school duo is the scum of the police department.

I've never heard of that law, but it exists and I broke it.  Sucks ass but what ya gonna do.  At least it's my first citation so hopefully I'm not raped to hard on insurance premiums.
