I saw this in the theater, it's a fun movie. The only shame is that it should have been better, you could really tell some scenes were incomplete or changed because of Lee's death. I'd be interested to see how the special effects hold up, but I have fond memories of this flick.
The fact that it was immediately compared to The Craft makes me sad. It must be the fact that Sting (the wrestler) took the Crow gimmick and ran it into the ground. When The Crow burst onto the scene, it was a pretty striking look (think The Matrix when that launched.) Sting (the wrestler) and Scary Movie (the ghost mask) kind of diluted the stark look that The Crow was known for. He really looked like an angel of death, and his revenge story worked into that image.
Also, the 15 direct-to-video sequels diluted the original movie as well. If you like grunge, The Crow had one of the best soundtracks of the 90s. That STP song was overplayed but is one of their catchiest tunes.
